How To Thrive in Bohemia: Tips and Tricks Posted: 14 May 2021 04:14 AM PDT Just like what I did for the Greedfall subreddit, this will be a collection of tips, tricks, cheeses, and general advice to remove some frustration and give you a better head start. I am not telling you how to play, only what I learned in my playthrough. I tried to avoid major spoilers where possible (This entire list could be considered one big spoiler however, so read with discretion). If you have things to add or questions to ask, please comment. It's a lot of reading, please forgive me, and pace yourself. x) • You can do a lot in the tutorial. You can get a herbalism of 15-16, you can max Stealth and Lockpicking(though it is time consuming to do it this way), max Maintenance easily, get a few Strength/Agility/Bow/Warfare/Hunting skill levels, and level Drinking some. • For Herbalism, go crazy picking flowers. Picking lots of Nettle will get you a hidden perk. Leg-Day and Flower Power are the perks to buy first. Use the chest in your family's living room for storing loot so you don't lug it around everywhere. • For Stealth, focus on villagers first. The key is to make sure they don't see you, come up from behind while crouched, then takedown. If you think they visually saw you (think 180° cone in front of them), don't try to knock them out, just run off and come back once they've forgotten about you. Minimize noise and visibility. Act like detection meters still exist, you just can't see them. Crouching Chameleon, Stealth Kill, Slim Fit, Ordinary Mug, Dog Person, then the rest in whatever order you like. You can get all the stealth perks. Go for guards at Stealth 10 and up. Save before doing really risky shit. • For Lockpicking, talk to Fritz about Kunesh's stuff, get some lockpicks (the only ones in the tutorial), save, and practice on Easy doors and chests. If on console, change lockpicking to Simplified in settings. Get good at the mechanics, then perks make the minigame easier. Lasting Lockpicks and Luck of the Drunk ASAP in that order, then drink a beer or wine before lockpicking, you'll never break them again. Silent Fiddler, Master Thief, Deft Grip, then the rest are free game. The doors relock themselves, particularly the stores and tavern buildings. • Luck of the Drunk is amazing because it'll make the minigame a third as difficult. Master Thief is amazing because it STACKS with Drunk Luck and lets you lockpick in plain sight with people watching - as long as it's easy enough to instantly pick. At max level with both of these perks and being under the influence, the only lock you can't instantly pick would be a very hard or a few hard locks. • Train up some bow and hunting by stealing a bow and arrows of a guard (requires decent Stealth, they are observant fuckers) and shooting the livestock without anyone seeing. You can play Shepherd and run behind the sheep to push them towards an unoccupied corner. Loot the bodies for more hunting xp, sell for some quick cash. • Level drinking by popping a beer or wine occasionally, let it wear off, then repeat. Learn how much alcohol affects you - the alcohol % does not correspond to your tolerance 1 for 1. 2 Moonshine, with 30% a piece, will cause a 20 Drinking Henry to black out. Wine Bibber, Drunk, Safe Passage, Loose Tongue, True Slav, rest are preference. • Safe Passage (teleport to bed when blacking out) + 2 Moonshine (to black out) + Hair of the Dog Potion (to undo drunkenness) + 2 hours waiting = fast travel back to the nearest owned bed, without consequences, and in spite of whatever you're carrying (be it 100 pounds of 10000 pounds of shit). Loot whores and pack rats, you're welcome. If you black out without safe passage you'll be teleported somewhere random, either in the middle of nowhere or even possibly in spots you can't normally get to, though these spots do have loot. • For Speech, grab the first two points your mom can give you at the start, then work on haggling with traders, exhausting speech options, and so on. Get Final Offer, Empathetic, Highborn, then personal preference. With Final Offer, haggle and offer the lowest amount possible, then match their counter offer exactly. This maximizes haggling returns. Silver Tongue does not give you xp when haggling - that's based on the value of the transaction (how much you tip/scalp them) - it just makes haggling easier (which Final Offer nullifies anyway). Grab it at level 12 if you like. • For Maintenance, practice a bit on the grindstone, but use the repair kits you've collected from robbing stores and their owners blind. Level 20 is a breeze. Grab everything EXCEPT Fragrance. The Maint. perks are OP in how great most of them are. • Don't worry about combat too much in the tutorial. You can abuse the combat trainer a bit during chain strikes: if you back him into a corner, and repeatedly stab at him regardless of stamina, you can get a few levels in Sword, Warfare, Strength, and Agility. It'll force you to continue eventually, but Captain Bernard will be where you really practice and level combat stats/skills. • For Vitality, find a pile of sticks/logs leaning against a house, and walk into them - find the spot where jumping takes the stamina, but skips the animation. Grind to your personal tolerance. Grab Sprinter, Thickblooded, Revenant, and Last Gasp. Rest are preference. • When you have like 1.6k in groschen, a set of armor and weapons, decent food, plenty of Schnapps, and an axe to grind - finish your father's tasks, and get ready for shit to hit the fan. Reputation in Skalitz can be regained later, so don't sweat that too much. Leave all but essentials in family chest (you need the capability to sprint). Save once you're outside the town. Once you're on the horse, practice riding it and getting used to how it behaves. Play a jousting match with the Cumans and stab them while riding past - you can indeed kill them all, like 12-15 in total. Don't venture too far. • For Horsemanship, I prefer Heavy Duty Pony, then Strong Thighs, Knight, and Jockey. Rest are preferences. Wear Spurs to buff Horsemanship passively - Golden are the best. When able, steal from Neuhof, Uzhitz, and Merhojed stable inventories for loot + a Noble Saddle with 4 bags, and Military Horseshoes. Buy Warhorse Jenda once you have about 4k. Beware of riding too fast down a slope - you can die of fall damage due to height and momentum. • Once Cumans are dead and you're overloaded, walk to down the road towards your objective. Cutscene, then you're forcibly put on your horse. Check its inventory, dump anything overburdening it, then gallop away while zig zagging to avoid arrows. Theoretically you can kill the Cumans, grab the loot, stash it, and get to Talmberg before you bleed out, but you don't have to. Cumans are frequent enough later that you don't need their loot now. • Once in Talmberg, steal more shit, continue quest, speech check exit guard, possibly forget horse (you can't keep it), walk to inn, buy a room for a few nights (permanent safe house), stash shit, continue main quest. Once outside of Talmberg, you can't go back in (until after reaching Rattay), so grab everything you want without getting caught. • Once near Skalitz, beware of bandits (3 scattered on the roads, 5+ clustered in camp south of Skalitz proper), stealth kill if possible. Loot their bodies, equip preferred gear, stash the rest in their overnight chest by where they sleep. Hope you looted Skalitz before the Cumans did, because it's all destroyed by now. Save before digging the grave, fight Runt. You can get him caught on the wagon's arms and shoot his buddies, then wail on Zbyshek and his invincible ass to your satisfaction, then let Runt wail on you (You can't kill Runt yet, he has plot armor). • Wake up in Rattay Mill, pay off your debts, learn how to pickpocket, grab quests, get a new dog, hit on Theresa (romantically, not physically), explore Rattay, pay the Apothecary, continue main quest. Get far enough to finish Train Hard, Fight Easy but start Keeping the Peace, then free roam to your heart's content. Captain Bernard is available for sparring in the morning, take off your gear before fighting him to avoid damaging it needlessly (unless you intend to fix it for the maintenance perks). Get gud at fighting and parrying. Ask him how you do combos and master strikes. If you find someone who will train you in a skill always buy the beginner level, and then buy the rest as you have the money to do so. You can't get this money back so consider it burnt, but you'll be so rich that it's irrelevant. • For Houndmaster, praise Mutt occasionally, feed him meat occasionally (he IS the bestest boi afterall), and let him hunt rabbits. Hunting active = free passive xp while exploring, since he'll aggro to any rabbits he sees. Loot them for Hunting xp. Alternatively, first praise is 15 xp, second is 10, third is 5, and every meat fed is 25 xp. You can keep feeding him meat to force houndmaster levels. Also, shoot game or livestock (secretly) for Bow, Hunting, Vitality (and possibly Agility) xp. Houndmaster perks should be Hunt, Sic, Sniffer, Alarm, then rest are preference. I leave behind Faithful Companion. • Do a game of Chumps just south of Ledetchko, do a perfect or near perfect game, and gain a few Bow levels from Vashek. Then practice on real people - like bandits and cumans. Et Tu Brute (a stealth skill) helps when shooting from behind someone. Level 5 removes arm flaying, 10 lets you zoom, and every level after increases draw speed, stability, and zoom level. Bigger, heavier bows take longer to draw. Better Piercing Arrows are your medieval .50 Cal round, the Yew Longbow is your medieval .50 Cal Rifle. I prefer the 74 power Cuman bow, but an Elm Longbow also works just fine. Use the bows that suit your stats. If you're too wimpy to wield them go fight Bernard some more. • For hunting, get Wild at Heart, then Forester. Rest are preference. Hunting is also a great way to make money early on - sell the meat quick before it spoils. For Agility, get Featherweight, Perfect Throw, then rest is preference.) Try not to go hunting before quest unless you intend to leave the meat behind, it's heavy and it adds clutter. • Stealth is broken once you get it to 20 and your Visibility/Conspicuousness is below 30 each, since you become near invisible to all but those within spitting distance, or to those already in combat with you. Be careful not to rush though, as Sam Fisher said it best: Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. Don't attempt to knockout/kill if people are really close by - close enough to hear the commotion. With practice you can put a whole guard's barracks to sleep sight unseen. With the right gear on I can get as low as 18 visibility and 24 conspicuousness. • Don't explore the whole map. Instead, after Train Hard, Fight Easy, go straight to Uzhitz, talk to the scribe, learn how to read. Early on, only read when sitting in bed for the comfort bonus. Unread lore books and skill books both give xp - get Avid Reader, Cushion, and Swot ASAP. The three Magistrates (for speech checking nosy guards), then Cartographer. With Cartographer, the whole map is more or less revealed (besides shrines and graves), but you can pop a Lethean Water + Hair of the Dog (to remove drunkenness) to get that perk point back. The map remains revealed. Time saved! • For Pickpocketing, practice on Peshek first, then do wandering Wayfarers. Get Comrade, Crowd Control, Easy Way Out, Friendly Neighbor, then rest are preference. Take EVERYTHING until you're level 20, then you can be picky. Don't walk in front of your mark/target, get to 12-15 seconds of looting time, and move clockwise or counterclockwise, spamming the interact button while moving. Be fast, efficient, and thorough. Practice on targets you intend to knockout anyway. Practice on people that are sleeping. Once a pro, you can pickpocket in broad daylight amongst a crowd of people. • For Strength, use Bernard to level this up. Stronghold, Mule I, Tight Grip, Mule II, Clinch Master, and Mule III in that order. Rest are preference, I dumped Dreadful. • Defence is best gained with perfect blocks/parries, do Firm Grip, Golem, Well Worn, then Knight in Shining Armor. Weapons are worth a lot, so Weapon Cruncher is take or leave. • Warfare is also Bernard. Bloodletter, Chain Strike, Against All Odds, Furious, then preference. Axe, Mace, and Sword are best leveled aiming high and stabbing Bernard's face, parrying when necessary since he doesn't counter you nearly as often. Unarmed is being aggressive and jabbing/clinching. Clinches do give xp. Be mindful that the sword fights will typically leave both unharmed but the mace can really hurt. • Lastly, Alchemy is best leveled by taking easy to make potions (Digestive, Marigold Decoction,) dumping in the correct amount of ingredients, and bottling the result without grinding or boiling. Distill if needed. Trial and Error, Bundle Alchemist, Routine I and II are a must, rest are preference. • Main Level comes from combat, mostly. First Aid I through III, Burgher, Infamous, Contemplative, Insomniac, Scout I through III, Renegade Brand, and rest as desired. • Reputation is finicky, and somewhat difficult to regain. Infamous helps with this. Being jailed does too. Haggling then tipping is good to start, quests to finish/max out. If quests are unavailable, fast travel and find Skirmishes with guards involved - protect and help the guards. Don't kill surrendering enemies until you talk to them and force them to keep fighting. Guards will get pissed and you'll have to talk your way out. • Speech is your native ability to be clever and convince people, determined by your speech stat. Charisma is your ability to sweet talk, or impress someone, determined by clothing or bathing. Intimidation is your ability to cojole or threaten effectively, determined by gear and armor. Perks and potions can raise these as well. aspeech checks do give you more speech XP but you don't have to feel compelled to pick that in particular. • Visibility is the ability to remain hidden, unnoticed, and incognito. The lower, the better. Conspicuousness is, when spotted, determinant of whether people forget you quickly, or gawk and stare. It also determines whether or not a guard is going to try and search you cause you look like a thief. Noise is the ability to remain quiet despite movement, in order of still > crouched > walking > sprinting. Lower is better, 0 is best. Armor's defence increases the threshold that has to be surpassed for you to be hurt, and reduces damage taken to Stamina. If it can surpass your defense it can go into your health. • Armor slows you down slightly, clothing does not. Plate armor is noisy. Colorful and vibrant is visible and conspicuous. Hats, spurs, and jewelry do not impede stealthiness, but do boost Charisma. Some helmets impede your vision. Wearing a Black triangular flapped Hood will let you get the maximum stealth benefit but you can also stick a mail coif under it too. You can wear shoulder pauldrons and short chausses without visibility penalty. Make sure to abuse the Stuffing perk so that your armor is quiet. • Health is capped at 100, or 200 with a Chamomile Brew. Stamina is Vitality dependent, boosted by Buck's Blood potion. Stamina is a precious resource - you run out in combat, and you will die fast. Energy is your wakefulness, Cockerel potions are energy drinks. Nourishment is your capacity to not starve - 120 is the cap. You can overeat. 80 is the sweet spot (2 moonshine!). Digestive potions reduce Nourishment (lose weight you fatty!) • Wash yourself in a trough every chance you get, go to a bathhouse occasionally (clean clothes, sleep, heal, haircut, and/or bang a wench). • Peshek can launder your goods and gear to make them legit rather than stolen. Sell him the stolen items, buy them back, then take your money from his chest. Also, if you sell him any items while he's out of money, when he restocks the owed groschen will be in his chest, making his money reserves effectively infinite. (I think any merchant can do this, but Peshek is the obvious choice.) Don't be afraid to sell your stuff to him even if he doesn't have any money. • If you choose to become partners with Theresa, she will occasionally give you Schnapps, and she can repair your clothes (but not armor) to full for free. • Don't forget to carry a spade with you so that you can dig up any Graves that you come across. Sometimes they have nothing in them but sometimes they're the end point of a treasure map and the loot is really good. • Be careful about finishing Playing With The Devil to completion - make sure you make a hard save before you follow the women to their smoky circle. Also, keep your wits about you when it comes to The House of God, ...Is A Friend Indeed, and Lost in Translation. • If you want to test your overall skills, a good place to go is Pribyslavitz before you free it from bandit control in one of the main quests. There are A LOT of Bandits and Cumans here - there's at least 10 of each respective group so anywhere from 20 to 25 people. Bandits hunker down in the camp on the left and Cumans take the camp on the right. There will be some patrolling the perimeter, but only about five or six, and the rest are typically chilling within their camps, so stealth and bows do really well here. If you feel brave you could potion up and start a fight and test your endurance against multiple enemies. When you're finished you can either stash the gear in one of their chests for later or you can use Safe Passage and go back to Talmberg. All in all the gear that they carry can weigh up to or more than 2000 lb. • Fighting Captain Bernard will give you a lot of practice that's useful in the Rattay tourney. Generally speaking, what I like to do is pressure them into one of the corners (especially using a clinch), play aggressively, and focus on stabbing them in the face. Your goal is to make sure they don't have room to breathe, and to continually drain their stamina until they run out, because once they are out of stamina they take much more health damage. Maces are usually harder due to this tactic but they're still just as viable - with enough skill and some luck you can get through all six fights completely unscathed. There's about 5 or 6 Lords of Leipa armor pieces that you can collect into a full set. [link] [comments]

Has anyone researched living descendants of the characters in this game? Posted: 14 May 2021 01:11 AM PDT An interesting topic, I think. As this game is historically accurate insofar as referencing actual people who existed back in the era, has anyone looked into whether or not there are living descendants of these characters around today? And if so, are they aware of the representations of their past relatives in this game? I tried looking up Jan Ptáček of Pirkstein but was unable to find anything at first blush. Genealogy is an interest of mine. I don't have a huge family tree on Ancestry or anything but I was adopted and managed to find out who my birth parents were later on in life. Further research has shown me that apparently on my father's side I'm a descendant of Patrick Henry, the "Give me liberty or give me death" speech guy, which I thought was kinda cool. My co-worker found that back during the Crusades, he had a relative that literally lied his way into high status, telling everyone that he was a big deal... and because there was so much crap going on at the time and the pertaining royalty was so pre-occupied, all they did was raise a quickly-dismissed eyebrow. He got land, a family crest, was appointed jurisdiction over territories out of the deal... he even got a Keep! It wasn't until it was all over that they were like, "Ok, wait, WHO are you, actually?!" But because his bs had already solidified him all that gain, they just accepted him as legit. I find the era to be fascinating and am just curious if anyone is aware of current-day relatives putzing around to date. [link] [comments]

How do you actually improve reputation with the Rattay soldiers? Posted: 14 May 2021 07:14 AM PDT I know that for negative rep you can go to jail and it resets, but im going for the King Charming achievement and have Rattay at 72, and the soldiers at 16, I've completed every quest, how do I raise it? Posted: 14 May 2021 01:29 AM PDT Is there a cheat or any other way to either change or remove an improvement or building in Pribyslavitz? If push comes to shove can I atleast reset the whole thing? I chose weaponsmith for my forge and now I realised that an armoursmith would be much more valuable(I can sell heavy stuff to him from my bags without the lower rates of a trader) [link] [comments]
What happens to horses you trade in? Posted: 13 May 2021 09:18 PM PDT I know that in the game, horses you trade in for other ones despawn permanently or whatever. But in medieval times, what usually happened to horses that were getting older and no longer used by knights, nobles, or messengers? I just traded in Pebbles and it sucks that she despawned, but I gather that the Uzhitz horse master would probably give her a nice quiet life pulling a wagon or something. Is that what people did with horses that were on the tail end of their usefulness but not weak enough to outright slaughter? Use them for farm work? It would be nice to know Pebbles would realistically live out her days peacefully on a farm doing light work. [link] [comments]
