Semi-new to the game, installing it again for lack of interesting single player games, any advice?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 03:40 AM PST

I played the game about a year ago, give or take. I don't remember much but I only got to the part where you investigate the area with the barns and fight that bandit in the woods. I also remember a church and a priest you can get drunk with. Was I far into the game?

Aside from that, I'm completely restarting, I do in fact remember that I was not actually good at fighting, which was mildly frustrating but I figured it would get easier the further I progressed. Is this true? I would like some advice for a new playthrough too.

Forgive any formatting errors, I'm on mobile.

    KDC Hardcore Mode

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 03:03 PM PST

I just bought the game, rage-quit and reloaded my save until I could beat Kunesh. You wanna know what's funny? I train in Muay Thai (Thai martial art similar to kickboxing), and the FIRST FUCKING THING they teach you is that straight jabs are smarter than hooks. Took me 5 tries to remember that.

When can I sell stolen stuff?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 09:35 AM PST

I tried to sell some swords I had stolen, but they refused to buy it because it was stolen. When can I sell it without them knowing it was stolen?

PSA: If you're trying to use a controller on PC, but find the game is lying to you about the mappings, turn off steam controller configurations

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 08:58 AM PST

Basically, Steam has a feature that maps buttons of your gamepad to specific functions within games. This allows devs to occasionally exert control over expected mappings, as well as provides built-in gamepad emulation for devices that are otherwise tricky to work with like the Switch Pro controller.

BUT, for some reason in Kingdom Come, shit's broken - it takes over and tries to map your controller to a built in config. You can see this config by opening the steam overlay in-game, and clicking "Edit Controller Configurations"

The Fix: Simply turn that shit off. From steam, go to "Steam" (Steam UI top bar) -> "Settings" -> "Controller" -> "General Controller Settings", then disable all options.

What this does is forces Kingdom Come to use what the devs were building for, which is just XInput mapping, and your mappings will work as the game actually tells you! You actually will have a jump button now!

NOTE: This will likely make it so non-XInput controllers (DS4 by default, switch pro) no longer function. You can get around this using steam's built-in controller configurations I mentioned earlier, but you'll need to figure out your own mappings since the default ones the devs provide are garbage, for whatever reason. Seems like they were built for the Steam controller?

Also note that you probably want these on for your other games in your Steam library, if you find your controller mappings aren't working for stuff after doing this. Simply click the check box back on for each controller.

    Favorite combos for usefulness/flair?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 06:16 PM PST

After completing my first play through as a heavily armored, mace wielding, clinch-spamming, head-bonking, goody-two shoes knight, I decided to go the exact opposite route and became a lightly armored, stealthy, thieving swashbuckler using a sword without a shield. With enemies no longer dying in 1-2 bonks on the head, I started trying to implement combos into my fighting. So far, I've been really liking it! However, some combos seem to fall flat flat due to it striking an armored part (looking at you scarmaker). As I continue swashbuckling across Bohemia, I'd like to know what combos I should invest into!

    Trouble with lockpicking

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 06:34 PM PST

Hey all. Just got to quest where I have to retrieve the three things for (spoiler) the wedding (At your service, my lady), got to the point where the two bandits have that chest with the stone in (for the crown). I am playing on xbox and have avoided lockpicking thus far because I hate it.

I have decided I can't avoid it any longer and am trying to level it up. Any advice or tips on how to level it up fast and get good at doing it?

    Thanks in advance.
