Similar to the wooden totems in KCD

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:50 AM PST

This newbie is enjoying KCD so far.

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 01:33 AM PST

A great game so far. I just escaped from Skalitz.

I had 1 bug while talking to Stephanie by the bed in Talmberg. Henry didn't sit on the bed while talking. Instead, I had a close up of his mouth.

But wow...what a credible world. Playing on PS4Pro and a 8 out of 10 so far.

    Considering playing

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:20 AM PST

I bought this game when it first came out on Xbox. Really enjoyed, but it faded away as I didn't have the time this game requires. I later bought it on PC thinking I could get back into it, but never did for the same reason. Now I am really wanting to dive back in. Should I? And should it be xbox or pc?

Help, my reputation with rattay is shit and I can't get it up

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:05 AM PST

I keep looking up how I'm supposed to gain rep again, and the only real answer I can find is that I can gain rep by selling items to traders for cheap. However, when I do this literally nothing happens, I just get a notification that I "gained reputation", but my actual reputation doesn't budge even after doing it consecutively. Not the trader's reputation, nor any reputation in rattay.

My rep with rattay citizens and soldiers is 3 and 10 now respectively. Am I fucked?

Just bought the game. Should I play hardcore mode?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 06:00 AM PST

I love the idea of no map markers and having to use landmarks/the sun etc to navigate, and getting lost, so that aspect of hardcore mode doesn't really concern me. I'm thinking more in terms of the combat as I heard it can be quite frustrating, even normal mode. But then I've also read that once you get further into the game on normal mode your combat skills get way OP which kind of puts me off as I'd still like it to be somewhat challenging in the late game. I'm considering just getting the no map marker mod and playing on normal, but yeah still concerned about the combat being too easy later on, but then also too difficult on hardcore. What does everyone suggest?

What do you think about combat in KCD?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 01:58 AM PST

I'm good at 1on1 combat and win almost effortlessly.

But bandit camps seem to be about sheer luck rather than tactic.
I'm always backpedaling, they always surround me and although I keep fighting, I slowly die from all the unavoidable hits.

For weak enemies, I used the tactic of killing the weakest enemies first then the stronger ones. This works, I deal a small damage but that's normal.

The problem is that for harder enemies, backpedaling and stabbing back doesn't really work. They are always in advantage because when I parry/slash/etc. they can surround me and combo hit my poor ass from behind.

    So what works?

    • Reloading my last save and trying the same thing hoping for dumber npc movement. (immersion breaking)
    • Lure out everyone from the camp one by one (immersion breaking)
    • Finding a narrow alley where they can't surround me (rare)
    • Kill them at night (no fight-related level ups)

The list is incomplete but it's pretty sad how little I can work with not to break immersion. I don't know how getting good helps here as for every youtube video the npcs miraculously wait and/or keep their distance while Henry tries to slash each of them.

Is there any way to make lockpocking easier?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 09:08 PM PST

I just got the game, and it seems really cool, but any time there's lock picking it's almost ubdoable. I get that it's realistic to the actual process of lockpicking, but I have shaky hands and am not a lock pick in real life.(I literally could not get through the lock pick training with Miller Pachek, I can't open locks.)

Are there any perks or tricks that make it realistically doable down the road, or am I SOL

Vis/Con stats mislabelled on some gear?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 09:07 PM PST

Has anyone noticed that equipping certain gear changes Henry's vis/con stats opposite of what you would expect? Here's an example: My Henry currently wears the short brigandine chausses (61 vis / 68 con). If I switch those out for the Saxon Composite Chausses (53 vis / 60 con), I would expect Henry's overall vis/con to go down because the item's stats are lower. However, this switch actually increases his overall vis/con stats. I have noticed this with some other items as well including a few helmets. Anyone know if this is a bug or if some items just are just mislabelled?

Edit: I am on the PS4 version.
