    Sasau Monestary vibes

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 02:12 PM PST

This building on loading screen looks really simiarly to the Sasau monastery on Ledetchko poster. Do you think it's really Sasau monastery or just coincidence?

Are any of the dlc worth buying?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 09:59 AM PST

My SO and I love kcd, and I've wanted to surprise her by buying the gameplay dlc, but it all has mixed reviews on Steam so I wanted to get my fellow redditors opinions. So are the dlc worth it to add more life into this masterpiece of a game?

So I swear my game has bugged

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 09:55 AM PST

So I was doing the band of bastards dlc and I went back to Rattay to tell Radzig what happened. And then went into town cos I was going to do some alchemy. I got guards asking me to surrender and they didn't let me do so? I hadn't stole anything at all. So I'm a bit confused. Anyway I punch the guard so he actually lets me surrender and I pay the fine. Skip a few days, by this point I had skipped two days through the contemplative perk, and did the tourney. I ride into town again. And get the jail symbol, these guards are saying stop murderer, but I've not killed ANYONE, other than during the battle in the band of bastards dlc. I'm now waiting to get set free from jail. I'm so so confused 😐

    I killed Radzig's horse

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 02:43 PM PST

So I needed to do the quest Questions and Answers but Sir Radzig was permanently stuck on his horse in Rattay. I could point a bow to him and he would temporarily get off just to get on it again.

After hours of trying to "unstuck" him I fkin killed his damned horse with the bow. Had to pay 1k coins to the guards but now finally Radzig appeared in the camp in Talmberg and I could report to him and finish the quest!

Are there side effects to killing his horse?

    Can’t activate God mode

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 07:09 PM PST

Whenever I input the command g_godMode=1 it automatically responds with g_godMode=0, even though I have set launch options to devmode. I then tried the cheat mod from Nexus Mods and restarted the game. I then put in the cheat for immortality, tested it on a bunch of guards who killed me. I've already played once and would like to be immortal, any working methods for version 1.9.6?

EDIT: I successfully activated devmode and input g_godMode=1, but the guard is still able to kill me.

    Bad blood bug?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 04:45 PM PST

So I did the first missions of Band of Bastards where you find a burned down house, then you track the Raiders. I killed the raiders by myself and came back to report to Kuno, he then told me to just have a look around. I waited for a few hours and they were gone. Problem is I never received the "quest completed" message. Nothing happens even after sleeping a day

What's the appeal in this game?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 08:48 PM PST

    Am I missing something here?

I've just picked up KDC on psnow. It's a game I've been meaning to try since it released and I was really hyped to find out it was coming this month for me to get cheap.

I decided to do my research which quickly raised my expectations, with several posts not just on reddit but all over the Internet saying that this is "the greatest game ever made by far"

Needless to say I was hyped, I love fantasy and medieval open world games but unfortunately other games in the genre such as Witcher and Skyrim have never really scratched that itch for me so I was really intrigued to see if KDC is that game that's going to get me completely obsorbed.

Unfortunately, I'm about 10-15 hours in now and I barely want to go back. I've had a really unpleasant time with it and I'm really at wits end on why people see such quality in this game.

The voice acting is laughably stilted, the main character has as much personality as an extra in Monty Python's: Holy Grail. The whole parents are dead, avenge them patter has been outdated since Batman did it in 1952. There isn't a single character that has charmed me or made me laugh in the slightest, every conversation seems to serve the lone purpose of ending that conversation as quickly as possible and this is with me trying every dialogue option available. Not to mention the entire first, like 4 hours of gameplay are strung together with unbearable long cutscenes (got to admit that raid took me by surprise and was a genuinely cool story) and before people say "it's an rpg story game, expect cutscenes" I have played many a rpg which doesn't rely on taking control directiy away from the player to watch hours of films. Never since a Kojima game have I been so frustrated by bloated cutscenes, yeah they're skippable but in trying to get into the story here, couldn't they do any of these long cutscenes through gameplay? Isn't that why they made a game in the first place?

And that's just the story, the control is worse.

Little bumps and rocks in the ground get your character stuck and will make the auto-sprint-cam-bs flip the fuck out to the point where you've fallen down 6 hills and off a bridge. Horse controls... I don't even want to talk about it. The combat really intrigued me at first, until I took on a group of bandits in the opening town and my sword kept sparking off the dude and making a wood knocking sound with absolutely no hit reaction, nor indication that I'm actually doing anything. The combat could be fun... But it leads me into another key issue.

The bugs... Good god the bugs...

Within 10 seconds of starting the game I had an "okay what the fuck" moment as I half way warped out of my parents window, and it was only downhill from there. With 3 crashes within the time played, this is on ps4 with no issues on other games. Crashes which lost me about a half hour of progress each time. The loading screens don't work at all, and your character will often be in game getting rattled while you're still on your phone on a black screen waiting. This especially annoyed me in the horse chase scene in the prologue, where my screen was red and I was near death before I even had control of my character and he would pretty much be dead before I could even get my horse moving.

Don't get me wrong. I get the focus on realism here, and I understand that the point is to make the player feel dis-empowered as if they are actually Henry himself, but I think there is a line. Especially in early game when you will just spend 80% of the time reloading saves because most of the skills are based on dice rolls that will either screw you completely or progress the game.

This isn't a complaint on difficulty, I'm a huge SoulsBourne fan, I even beat the final boss in sekiro and the cuphead tutorial so I'm a pretty well rounded gamer that loves getting his arse minced every now and again. The thing that has always drawn me to those games is the fact that you can just jump in Dark Souls and beat the whole game with your fist, without levelling up your character at all, and although there is a fair share of bullshit in souls games that I could complain about for hours, it definitely feels like my own lack of skill causes failure. In KDC I feel as if I'm battling RNG constantly, hoping that a guard across the map doesn't spawn next to me if I take my eye off a ladder for 2 seconds while I'm theiving about, or that my knock out skill is good enough to take out a dude without him pulling a Randy Orton reversal on me.

I'm probably going to get deleted off of reddit entirely for this post, or alternatively get my balls blasted in the comments but I'm really struggling to push myself to play this beast. I need to know it gets better before I go on.

I guess my question to you, you beautiful reader who has made it this far, is what was your experience? Does this game really pick up later on? What am I missing out on if I were to give up right now? Am I just a wimp and should choose a different game as it is clear this just isn't for me?

I'm not trying to shit on the game at all, I see a lot of potential here. But this opening has really dulled my initial optimism and I'm thinking this is just buggier Skyrim at this point, which I previously thought impossible.

TL;DR Heard a lot about this game being goat, but my initial couple of hours have left me overwhelmingly dissapointed with various issues. Should I go continue?
