Better get your lockpick and stealth levels up, Henry.

    Posted: 14 Nov 2020 08:07 AM PST

Something I realized in the intro of the game... (MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS AHEAD... DO NOT OPEN THIS POST UNLESS YOU HAVE PLAYED THROUGH THE GAME)

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 07:38 PM PST

    MAJOR SPOILERS! LAST WARNING!

So when you go to Kunesh for the first time in the introduction he calls Henry a "Bastard" and also a "Son of a whore"... It seems that Kunesh knew something that Henry didn't from the very beginning... and being called "bastard" was accurate to what Henry was (and "son of a whore, while more vulgar, said the same thing when coming from a drunkard).

The game basically gives away and foreshadows the entire twist in the introduction.

And I get that some people might say this is a coincidence... But literally the first thing Kunesh says, whom is likely to be one of the first people you interact with, is calling Henry a "Bastard." And given the twist... I can't help but feel like this was intentional in a game where the developers pay attention to the most minor of details.

    A Woman's Lot

    Posted: 14 Nov 2020 11:47 AM PST

Is it just a prequel, or will it spoil things? I never actually finished the main game even with 100+ hours.

Also will I be able to start my new game with a Dog after finishing a woman's lot?

Do you think a multiplayer game with the same mechanics and equipment of KCD could work? Why/Why not?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2020 10:41 AM PST

Though I feel like a multiplayer mod for KCD Deliverance wouldn't really work as I feel like the game is more or less designed for single player, but a game with realistic medieval combat and Armour and focusing more on fighting rather than just medieval life could be good. For example think of the Rattay Tourney but with you dueling other players or where your besieging a castle but instead of AI its actual players.

Also perhaps a game where you can travel around the map, form factions, build castles and villages and utilize the same mechanics would be very interesting, with players taking roles of Knights, Farmers and Artisans.

What do you think? Comment below.

How Old is Henry? My take.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 04:13 PM PST

    Context:

    • People grew a lot faster back then, and matured faster too, as shorter lives made people's bodies do this. It wasn't hugely faster, but certainly enough that a fifteen-year-old blacksmith's apprentice could overpower most other people with enough training and practice.
    • This narrows the window to anywhere from 14/15-30, still a large window, but workable.

    Key Evidence:

    • Firstly, Henry is unmarried, and a virgin.
      • Anybody in their mid/late twenties would have been married, and maybe even with a few kids. Henry not being married puts him in the 14/15-22 range, narrowing the window quite a bit.
      • In addition, he hasn't been in the relationship with Bianca for too long, otherwise Henry's father, being the ale enjoyer that he is, would know her name.
      • He's also a virgin, as having no intercourse during the story gives you the virgin achievement.
    • Secondly, Henry is specifically a blacksmith's apprentice, as we are explicitly told by Henry when he speaks to Capon on the ride to Skalitz.
      • This puts him squarely below 19, as he would have ended his apprenticeship at 18, and become a blacksmith, no longer an apprentice.
      • He's also probably not 17 or 18, as someone so close to the end of an apprenticeship (especially with such a skilled teacher as his father) would have been able to make weapons and armor, at least rudimentary pieces, and Henry lacks any crafting abilities, only having experience with kits and grindstones. This makes him either 15 or 16.
    • At this point it's just a matter of opinion whether he's 15 or 16. Capon is 15, as he isn't of age yet, and as people mention, he's a bit off from becoming of age. He's also historically 15 in 1403, so Capon is 15.
    • Edit: Theresa is also probably 16, as a 15 year old would have been too young to marry off, but 16 was the time when most people started to look for suitors. Henry being her age makes a lot of sense, which does make it lean towards 16.

    Rebuttal (Important Spoiler):

    • Historically,>! Radzig would have been 53, and since Henry was conceived when Radzig was young, Henry would be anywhere from 31-38, as "young" meant 15-22. However, creative license was definitely taken here, as Radzig is still physically fit and looks young. Also, previous evidence is more than enough to say that Henry is 15/16, so Radzig is likely in his 30s, and not his historical age, unlike Capon. !<

What do you guys think? Any other evidence I didn't take into consideration? Any historical facts I got wrong? How old do you all think he is?

Any permanent reason not to become a "bad guy"

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 11:04 PM PST

Is there any reason not to do the miller's quest? I don't want to make Henry a thief, but are there any permanent debuffs/buffs for doing thieving? Is stealing/doing shady quests such as miller's going to affect the gameplay permanently somehow or I can simply turn back to honest Henry anytime?

The End Of Gallows Brothers(Andrew Side)

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 02:25 PM PST

So in my save file on A Rock and a Hard Place, I declined to help Fritz and Matthew and decided to listen to Andrew and snitch to Sir Robard. If you do that he will send more soldiers and tell you if there aren't anybody there you would be in big trouble. There and there will be an objective called "Watch The Robbery" and I did. There it showed Fritz and Matthew attempting to rob the quarrymen but fail miserably. They get diced to deathThe objective will be completed and you go back to the Glade. You talk to Andrew about what happened, and it is very sad. Henry tells Andrew that "It is done, the lads are dead." Andrew feels heartbroken and disturbed. He says that he never meant to get anybody killed and that he wasn't a bad person. Henry is unable to stutter a reply and sadly just looks down. Andrew tells Henry that he is forever in his debt and he will give Henry whatever he needs(Free lodgings at the Glade and a free food every time you visit him if you ask). He tells Henry they need to lay low though. If you go to Talmberg and talk to Sir Robard, you will get "Reputation Gained" as there really was a plan to rob the quarry. I feel this is a bittersweet ending, and I wish it could allow you to at least warn Fritz and Matthew about the guards.

    Combat question!

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 10:57 PM PST

Combat Question! This is reguarding good ol' hand to hand. How do I grapple? I notice you get in clinches, but what different moves can I do while clinches? Every time I do one I get kneed in the head or pushed off. I can punch just fine, I've got quite the swing, but if I get grappled it's over! Any tips? Also I noticed enemies can side dodge, am I able to as well?

    r_rain = 0 sound is still there

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 10:16 PM PST

Hi, I just bought the game and I love it. Except for the rain. The atmosphere is great but there is always raining. I used r_rain=0 command, but the problem is, the sound on the backyard is still there. Also, rain is still pouring from the roofs. Any way to deal with those two issues? Thanks!

Instantly caught when delivering cask of whine - Nasty habits quest

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 05:27 PM PST

So I got the wine, and I'm trying to deliver it to the drinking table (night time), but I get caught all the time. Either brother Stibors stops me before I deliver it, or I deliver the whine, brother John starts with the line "You're a fine fellow! Let's see what you'e been hiding!" and Stibors gets up and catches me. Either way, I'm kicked out of the monastery (also tried to just deliver the wine and leave, but Stibors follows you with same end result).

Anyone knows a way to avoid this?

My best attempt was deliver the whine while crouch walking, sit while they stand up, trigger a chat with John, actually convince him to leave the novice Lucas alone, and then getting catched by Stibors again. I could keep tryin, but I get the feeling I'm just fighting a bug here.

I can record a video of the incident, but I think my issue is pretty clear.

As a note of interest, didn't really test it, but if I just ignore the delivery and go to sleep, the following morning Stibors catches me again in the chappel during praying and mass time (the "You're neglecting your daily schedule!" is not there and I'm with all the monks, so I should be fine but still comes to me and ends up kicking me out of the monastery).

EDIT: Playing on PC with the latest version (1.9.4.0)

How historically accurate is Kingdom Come Deliverance's main story?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 04:43 PM PST

Did the events really happen? I know that the characters are based on real people who lived back then but did the attacks on Skalitz etc really happen? What about some of the minor aspects of the game like getting fined because of not walking with a light at night.

KCD wont start as non-steam game.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 01:57 PM PST

KCD wont start as non-steam game.

I own KCD on the Epic Games Launcher and I wanted to add it as an non-steam game so it would be easier for me to chat with friends via the Steam overlay. But they problem is that it says "License not verified". I just wanted to hear if there's a work around to get it launch on Steam? Thanks.

My issue with KC:D - an improvement I want to see in the sequel

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 04:33 PM PST

Approaching about 200 hrs now, so clearly I've enjoyed the overall experience and am looking forward to a sequel. I'm a fan!

My issue with KC:D however is the questing. Repetitive is too nice a word, tedious on occasion and usually annoying. I've never groaned, stopped and stared at a map as much in my life. I have a very specific example right now, as I'm tabbed out of the game and just given up on a quest. Again.

A Womans Lot, the sacking of Skalitz has just begun, I was drawn in by the fantastic storytelling once again, the incredible cutscene and the danger Therese finds herself in... "find Samuel" by searching 4 mine shafts that are all over an area... by the 7. Well, that just killed the mood.

Now I'm Tess, during a siege, wandering around the fields no Cumen in sight aimlessly trying to find these mineshafts. Really? Could they not think of anything else? This happens so often, where you're mid story and suddenly BOOM head back to Rattay and talk to Radzig, BOOM go to pontless person 54 and receive random item 29, BOOM, wander around the pointless area with no direction hoping to find the item we need you to find to progress the story.

I know this is due to A) Budget and B) time constraints. But it feels like padding, well, actually, it feels like a thick gambeson and a nice chainmail on top to be honest.

I love the game, but a bit less of... this, would go a long way to improve the experience. I just want to be a bit less, drained from doing quests. This can probably be improved in a sequel when more money is available to improve the engine. I think the problem Warhorse has is the engine quite honestly struggles with anything other than the basics.
