Kingdom Come After playing for ten hours, I thought I had all the systems down pat. Then I come to this fricking tutorial. WTF and don't get me started on Alchemy (Are there quests that explain it?!). Regardless, I am loving this game.

    I somehow failed Unexpected Visit

Started a second playthrough on Hardcore Mode, punched Kunesh before I should have and somehow triggered a failure of Unexpected Visit. Opened up the quest log and saw nothing. Couldn't talk to Mother or Father. This must be purgatory, Jesus Christ be praised.

Game mechanics that determine random encounters on the road.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 07:44 PM PST

I've heard that the random bandit encounters are based on your current stats so harder bandits the higher your combat levels are, but is it also gear dependant?

When I was wearing the best armor I could find (all the best peices from the shops and Zoul's armor mostly), most of my bandit encounters were bandits in comparable armor with polearms and hammers.

For the past 20 or 30 hours of game play, ive been running around in sneaky gear with my only actual armor being a skull cap and a dark brigandine the rest just being dark clothes trying to level up my stealth and lockpicking and working on all the sneaky thieving side quests I've ignored do far. Since I've been wearing my sneaky gear, the most armored bandits I've come across are cumans and its usually just peasants or bandits just wearing gambesons.

So I was just curious if anyone knows whether you're less likely to come across heavily armored opponents when wearing light armor.

Edit: on ps4 with no mods if that makes a difference.

Need help on the siege of Pribyslavitz

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 09:51 PM PST

So during the siege I get through most of the fights fairly easily. Up until the cuman camp, where my men seem to drop like flies. Usually by the end of the fight I'm left with a fraction of the forces I started out with. The numbers usually being around 7 - 8 men left afterwards. The farthest I've gotten is the part where we start ramming the gate to the church. Does anyone know how to grt through this? Am I doing something wrong? Or is it something else? Please, any advice would be a great help. PS I'm playing on an Xbox One S

On Purpose or just Super Unlucky? (Hunting)

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 09:39 PM PST

Doing the quest "Beggar's Feast" and I'm not entirely sure If this Is because I am playing on Hardcore or b/c the quest Involves Hunting (The old "Everywhere when you don't need It, Nowhere when you actually do" thing) I cannot for the life of me find Roe Deer.

I've google the tried and true hunting spots and staked it out In the early mornings and have found not a one. I had the same problems during the first part of the quest that had me hunt Hares. I only seemed to have found any Hare's by being danger close to Bandit Camps hence me questioning If that was on purpose or not.

My character Is specializing In Stealth and Stealth related skills (Bow/Hunting too) and I'm not wearing any noisy Armor as to scare them off before anyone asks.

So "On Purpose or just Super Unlucky?"

EDIT: I finally found a Roe Deer and successfully shot It... Till I found out I need Roe Deer MEAT not VENISON. Don't know what this damn game wants from me now.

    That "wading through molasses" feeling

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 09:06 PM PST

    First playthrough

I'm at the point where you go looking for limpy lubosh, and as much as i loved the missions up until now (especially the town guard stuff and every competition with hanz), the sheer slowness of the combat is starting to wear on me.

I don't think I'm bad per say. I killed the two cumans that kidnapped hans when i was level 3, and since the next mission gave me no time to go and sell their heavy gear, I'm not sure I was supposed to do that.

That said, 90% of fights feel like I'm just slow-mo sparring with my opponent, who is also doing the same. There's just so much windup, so much endlag.

I tried all the training options, but I admittedly only beat the combo practice by accident, because I wasn't able to do them on command. Couldn't seem to get my feints to actually swing in the direction i settled on, and delay between each of my swings was so massive that my opponent has long since regained composure from the last one. Needless to say the master cuts are out of the question.

I get the feeling that there's some way to make your next strike faster by "getting the timing right" as the guard captain put it.

Any advice? And is there really no way to defend against clinches? Is it actually just pure rng like morrowind?

Yesterday I finished the game. Thoughts, musings and the like.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 05:06 AM PST

Well, I spent 138 hours in the game. What can I say? The game enthralled me. It has been one of the most immersive ARPG experiences I've ever lived. This review contains spoilers.

I have to confess that at first I approached this game with caution. Friends and the Internet called it "hard", and although the first steps were indeed hard (you're the son of a blacksmith, God be praised, what did you expect?!), "soon" I understood the game well enough to enjoy it inside the difficulty and realism it provided.

Combat was at the same time engaging, fun and frustrating, and even in higher levels I always was nervous when three or four Cumans surrounded me. Say to me that axes and maces surpass swords in late game because of the armour, I know it, I used them, I concur with you. But this game made me, the player, feel awesome wielding St. George's sword and hacking my foes using combos. I was never a fan of the bow, because I sucked and I had little patience. My bad.

The realism (within the limits of the fact that this is a videogame) was welcome, and no small feat achieved by Warhorse. The fact that the terrain was done on a 1:1 scale, the every day life of Bohemia, clothes, the food and drinks, all helped me a lot into get immersed into being Henry. I even can forgive those tiny fantasy details present (healing potions, healing by resting, and such) only because I think they didn't go against the immersion.

For being their first game, I consider myself lucky because I didn't encounter any serious bugs or game-breaking experiences. Invisible walls were, IIRC, the most annoying thing.

The story itself and the characters' interpretations were, IMHO, superb. Every character is memorable in one way or the other, and all of them brought immense life to this awesome adventure. Special mentions, for me at least, should go to the voice actors of Henry, Theresa, Hans, Hanush, Radzig and Keyser. The main quest is very well told, almost in tandem with a well-produced movie. It is dramatic, it has action, romance, jokes, and many more things. Even the ending was satisfying, even though the story ended on a cliffhanger (and yes, I'm aware of KCD2). I believe too that every side quest (not activities) was interesting in one way or another, and barring just a few of them, I never got bored doing them.

I had the chance to enjoy this game with all DLC produced. I think that, while all have something interesting to offer, some felt somewhat short and not that amazing.

    • For me at least, Treasures of the Past was very meh. The set was pretty, but otherwise it didn't offered me much.
    • From the Ashes was a nice touch of building your own place, but I understand that it's function is to generate money (see my problem with that below).
    • Tournament added a new layer of immersion: participating in a tournament. I think this DLC gives you the upper hand to the rest of the game (see my problem with that below).
    • The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon was a very fun and pretty interesting quest, and a nice rest from the main one.
    • I enjoyed a lot playing Band of Bastards, even though I think I was over-leveled to it (see my problem with that below).
    • A Woman's Lot is marvelous. I thoroughly enjoyed both Theresa's and Johanka's stories, specially the first one. I think the only thing I regret from this DLC (and From the Ashes) is the fact that I cannot take Theresa to Pribyslavitz.

I think I made two "mistakes" in the whole game. One was small, and one was big.

    • The small "mistake" I made was to accuse Andrew for stealing the money (saving Matthew and Fritz), before completing Sheep in Wolf's Clothing. Since I did that, I could not complete Hare Hunt nor Cherchez la Femme and become Master Huntsman.
    • The big "mistake" I think I made was before the quest Nest of Vipers. I asked here what was the best moment to do other things besides the main quest, and many people agreed on that moment: just before Nest of Vipers. I think I may have taken a lot of time, and I did so many things that I felt my Henry was way over-leveled. I completed Tournament in that time, and by doing side quests I leveled so much and the Lords of Leipa set is so good that Nest of Vipers was kinda piece of cake (no, I did not burn the arrows), and I had a good bunch of money, so From the Ashes was reduced to building everything (except the Rathaus and the Church) very fast, wait for some days, and with that generated income finishing the village later.

All in all, I had a huge time playing this game. It was nothing short of awesome, and happily I would replay it in the future.

Feel free to ask me anything, if you want! Thanks for reading.

Edit: fixed grammar mistakes because coffee hadn't had any effect.

Beat nest of vipers, I want to play in the open world now

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 05:34 PM PST

I have just beat the best of vipers, is this a good time to just go and have fun in the game without following the main quest? Should I go the upper chambers in Rattay right away or will this trigger events in the game that will force me to continue the main quest?

    Any dialogue mods for PC?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 12:12 PM PST

I'm currently playing on ps4 but was wondering are there any dialogue mods for the pc version.

I was thinking how cool it would be if the rattay tourney introduced me as Henry of Skalitz, Bailiff of Pribyslavitz and wondered what immersion enhancements were available.

I'm considering a hardcore playthrough on PC!!

Goes without saying the dialogue is already amazing so kudos to Warhorse.

Wanting to get into the game, but worried.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 02:29 PM PST

I've been eyeing this game for close to a year now, but when I "aquired" the game(if you know you know), it crashed endlessly on load. I really want to play it, but am worried if my comp specs are why it won't play, if they are, I don't want to buy it to see it not work.

And news about KCD on next gens?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 12:16 AM PST

Anyone seen how KCD performs on PS5 or XBX? Does he game have unlocked framerate or not? I would love to replay it in 60fps to be honest.

I guess a patch is not coming.
