The fact that I'm always locked on in combat is ruining it

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 01:42 AM PST

Is there some way to break the soft locking on mechanic in combat so that I can get more freedom of movement? It makes no sense that at no point can you take your eyes off a person engaging you in combat and is the only real reason why fighting more than one person at a time is more than twice as hard.

The combat forces you to DUEL each opponent one at a time rather than be in a 2 v 1 or 3 v 1, but they're not dueling you. They're all attacking you at once. In a real life 2 v 1 or 3 v 1 you don't just lose all awareness of the person behind you just because you're not looking directly at them. You have way more peripheral awareness than this game accounts for, you can see almost 180 degrees around your head.

You'll parry one enemies attack, the camera will get all fucky because the other one is grinding on you and then they'll suddenly be behind you bashing you in the head. Rinse and repeat on every other parry you land and you're bleeding and have no stamina to fight two people at once.

I get that this game is meant to be realistic and that it's meant to be punishing and that it's not meant to be about combat, but it's literally just annoying as fuck and no fun at all to fight multiple enemies. It's not hard at all. That is to say, the reason it's punishing is not lack of skill, I'm literally parrying every attack and getting hit for it. It's RNG. It's just punishment with no real reward after because you only win from getting lucky.

Just got ambushed fast travelling by like 5 bandits in full plate armor and I'm only level 7. Lost like 45 minutes of progress and a shit ton of loot I just stumbled upon.

    Guys, Wait up!!

The lockpocking is seriously ruining my enjoyment of this game.

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 07:30 AM PST

So I'm still relatively early in the story and was doing a side quest and on the way back to turn it in, I stumbled upon an interesting site and after some searching found an easy chest. I decided to give it a go because I know I need to practice if I ever want to get better.

I had 5 lockpicks left over from the 15 the miller had given me to start. After 3 attempts, I managed to get it open and got a bunch of armor and money. I was stoked! I continued back to Rattay and was jumped by 3 bandits. They killed me and I restarted my last save.

When I got back to that (easy) chest, I broke all my lockpicks trying to get the damn thing open again. So now I have to reload the save again.

The lack of infinite saves is also pissing me off.

I play on PS4 so please don't suggest any mods. Yes, I have enabled simplified lockpicking.

I just want to enjoy this game but the developers really screwed up with this lockpicking mechanic.

Just got the game and I'm about 20hrs in and man is it amazing. Has such a great story, great graphics, and some amazing gameplay. Wish I had got this sooner! I hope it's not a game where the opening is great and the rest is trash. Is there any word of a sequel or even another game by warhorse? Would love to know!

Just let me play dice in peace!

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 02:25 PM PST

I was in Rattay and innocently playing dice with a townsperson when a catchpole walked up and started bugging me about not having a torch out since it was night. After several variations of "you need to have a light out at night," I was pulled from the game and not only lost the money I was betting but also the money that I had to pay in fines (my persuasion attempt failed). Mildly annoying. Now the townsperson left so I can't even get my money back. Btw, I don't think it matters much, but I'm on PC.

What kind of mods you guys would like to see for this game?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 05:23 PM PST

I for one you like to see a mod that actually puts polearms in the game (since it looks like it wont be put in by the devs). I also would like to see some gore mods! What about you?

I think I may have broken the game, money wise.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 12:46 PM PST

So, a lot of people probably know about this already. I went and got good at alchemy very early on, and now money isn't an issue. Literally every marigold I collect in a field is now worth 60 groschen to me.

Anyone that doesn't know what i mean, I practiced alchemy, got to the point where I could take the routine 1 and routine 2 perks. Now i can quickly and easily mass produce Aqua Veritas potions. Dandelions are stupid easy to find so i don't worry about that. Every marigold i find equals 3 aqua veritas potions if i auto brew them and they sell for 20 a piece. And since potions count as food, you can sell them almost everywhere.

Every morning i just walk into rattay and collect 4 or 5 k selling potions to almost every merchant. Every once in a while i spend like 10 real life minutes brewing em up in bulk. I just pick up marigolds while I'm out n about.

I think it's way too early in the game to have access to this kind of money and I'm hoping I'm not missing out on anything fun, but i cant force myself to "roleplay" as if i didn't know how to buy whatever i wanted lol
