What piqued your interest in this game?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 06:48 AM PST

KCD is both similar and very unlike a lot of RPGs nowadays. I have a lot of respect for WH, because they knew this game wouldn't be a smash hit in terms of sales, but they still stuck to their vision.

What drew me to the game was the fact that it was an open world game set during medieval times based on actual history. Dragon Age & The Witcher are both awesome franchises, but I've always wanted a realistic, medieval RPG.

    Worth it to buy dlc?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 09:17 AM PST

I'm thinking about buying some/all of the dlcs for KCD, but I have a few questions first.

    1. Will I need to restart my game, or can I continue from where I am right now?

    2. Are they worth the money? On Steam some of them seem to have mixed reviews.

    3. I can already see icons (I think just 1 & 2 thus far, but I could be wrong) on the map for "Dlc quests". Are these just there to make me want to buy them, or are they there for bigger quests, almost like a second main quest, or did they just decide to give everyone free access to the dlcs after a while?

    Thanks in advance!

Mod to show how much reputation changed and with whom?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 06:01 AM PST

In game I sometimes, usually when talking, get these "Reputation gained/lost" messages. Is there a mod or something that could show me exactly how much the reputation was changed by, and with whom? 🤔

Particularly curious as I just handed in a quest with Alex (beggars feast) where I got both a "Reputation gained" and a "Reputation lost". Googling and reading here, it seems there might be the Rattay guards I lost reputation to, but would be so much better if I could see it when it happens 😕

I have been playing this game in the past two weeks and I have to say it's one of my favourite games of the past decade

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 12:15 PM PST

I have only played 20 hours, I'm still in Rattay but man is this game amazing. I expected just a time pass game because some of my anticipated games coming in the next few months were delayed but it turned out to be something special.

It really feels like it has a real identity and was made by people who are invested and passionate about it, not a typical corporate product that is out for mass appeal (unlike say AC Odyssey which I just played a few months ago).

Henry is one of my favourite RPG MC's. Finally not a typical power fantasy type of "cool" character, instead he is very human and relatable. The VA does a terrific job and I think this game shows how much a voiced MC adds when done right (unlike Fallout 4).

The world feels very atmospheric, I like the ambient music, the voice acting in general is great and the side quests are well crafted and about quality over quantity.

Buying dlc for ps4 or royal edition for pc?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 04:02 AM PST

So I bought KCD after release for my ps4. It was one of the last games I played on it before I bought a gaming pc. Lately I had the idea to replay this gem and remove the dust from my ps4. Only a few hours into the game I thought let's buy the dlc. Although the dlc for ps4 and the royal edition on Steam currently have almost the same price. So is it better to re-buy the entire game on steam? Are their differences in graphics? On ps4 it has long loading screens and difficulties rendering.

(Question to the dev) "Game of Throws" quest : are we missing something?! Bug? Open ending? (Frustrating situation!!)

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 02:55 AM PST

    Hello dear Dev',

I was trying to properly resolve the Game of Throws quest ! (Hans Capon DLC : who stole the necklace and murdered Alfons)

PROBLEM : this quest doesnt offer any "proper" resolution. Whoever you choose : same ending.

This quest is really nice on the surface, as an intrigue plot : lots of potential killers for alfons... (love it)

BUT after digging a lot the resolution of this quest, and reading a lot of interesting stuff and theories from other players-> it appears it is a really FRUSTRATING one (and that is not a good sign) :)

IN GAME, it seems it is never OFFICIALLY confirmed who was indeed the killer. There is no proper validation. (Yes, when we give a name -our potential killer, based on different elements- to Anselm, and the quest finishes. BUT you can give him any names : same resolution)

So there is here only 3 solutions for this weird quest :

    1. Quest is bugged! One of the "lines/accusations" branch somewhere is missing/wrong? For now, whatever the accusation : always same answer (and "success of the quest") Were we supposed to get a confirmation in-game about the real killer? (dice, boots, necklace, etc)
    2. Quest simply doesnt have any confirmed killer! The quest designer decided to keep an open ending. Up to us. (If this is the case, this is really a poor designing choice, being a writer myself : quest looks suddenly monolithic -you cant confront, you cant interact- and the result of the quest has "0 impact" : results? Frustration AND doubts for the player who take LOT OF TIME to investigate.)
    3. Quest is still not properly resolved by players! Maybe we are all wrong, and there IS a way to identify (officially/with validation) the right killer. But no one ever did? Can you then at least point us out that we are able to find in-game the right killer? (with a specific quest validation)

Again, if it is option 2, I would like to know it (even if it is poorly designed in that case : NEVER punish players who take lot of time to resolve such an intrigue to let them down at the end with a "whatever" feeling ...)

A player who LOVE the game so far.. 200h.. and the end is slowly coming at the horizon :-)

    Are alchemy recipes necessary?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 03:08 PM PST

Some alchemy recipes are pretty expensive. Is it necessary to have the recipe on hand, or can I just throw the potion together by googling the ingredients?
