    Newbie questions!

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 05:52 AM PST

    Hi all,

I just upgraded my 10-year-old computer yesterday to an i7 10700k/3070 RTX, and I decided to make Kingdom Come Deliverance my maiden flight game for the new rig. My wife bought it for me about a year ago, with all the DLCs, but I waited on playing it until now. Great start to the game last night! I love the feeling of immersion and realism, the dialogue is solid, the graphics are beautiful, and most importantly even in the early intro quests I feel like choices are meaningful.

I have a couple early questions as I get my basic game started here.

    1. I initially started the game on hardcore mode, but restarted on normal. Realistically, I play even the best giant RPGs just once, because there's just a heck of a lot of games out there, and even now I've got Wasteland 3, Outer Worlds, Metro Exodus, Pathfinder Kingmaker, Disco Elisium, soon Cyberpunk, and many more huge games all waiting in the wings for me to start playing. So should my one playthrough of the game be on normal or hardcore? The biggest downside that I see of hardcore is the save system. I failed to escape the invasion several times, and now I want to go back and save Theresa (I had tried to, but tried to fight and died in the efforts). In a hardcore playthrough I doubt I'll have a save slot to allow me to do that. I don't know if the satisfaction of playing hardcore is sufficient to offset the frustration I'll have if I need to replay multiple hours after a death or mistake.
    2. What's the modding scene like for the game? I'm typically open to gameplay mods that add to my opinion of the quality of the game. I've never even played most Bethesda games without mods for instance, as I hate their whole world-scaling system where the whole game world goes up a level every time I do. I don't usually concern myself with graphics mods as gameplay is much more important to me than graphics, but I'd make an exception to that right now to show off the capabilities of my new PC.
    3. Is there any significance to the passage of time in the game? Even in hardcore mode I guess I could have saved a bunch of times by resting in my bed, right? And there's a skip time button. I mostly want to make sure I can't time out quests or miss things because I go too slow. I didn't feel like I should use my bed at home in the beginning because I was on what seemed like immediate errands for my dad, but if I can just comfortably use beds whenever, then maybe that's an argument in favor of playing hardcore. I can see that food degrades fairly quickly over time, so again, just want to explore that element, partly in context of whether to try playing hardcore.

Thanks in advance for the answers everyone!

How much will me not having access to millers hurt my playthrough?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 12:16 AM PST

Just tried to go back to go back to the thief quest that Peshek gives and its bugged. I click on it and there is no marker on the map or objectives. I can't progress it to get access to the other millers.

Is this gonna be a pain in the ass and am I gonna miss out on some good content?

You've heard of Henry of Brolitz. Now get ready for... Johunka

    Johanka's Questline.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 10:49 PM PST

My first time in KCD, I've been a good Christian Henry up until i started doing DLC quests and johankas quest were so boring. Now johanka went on trial and only the Taylor's wife and Adela (which is no help and i think you know why) are the only ones who will testify on her behalf.

So, Adela, talor, Brother Nicodemus, Matthew got my back and my bribery almost backfired but i think the balif is good. And i got a book from ushitz priest.

Looks like the Convent for Johanka. Didn't see that coming. A part of me knew something was up getting all these moral choices. Im not the one who's on trial, but johanka gets the punishment for a sinful Henry. Despite some obvious mistakes on Henry's part I thought the trial would have ended better.

Well, off to murder a swordsmith's wife. Johanka may be a saint but Henry isn't.

    Challenge run idea

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 01:49 PM PST

So, I wanna put together some rules to make this game a lot more interesting and challenging, and basically I'm looking for if anyone has any input on what to add, remove or change from the rules I have down below.

    1. Hardcore (obviously)
    2. No looting anything. No money, no weapons or armour.
    3. Lockpicking and pickpocketing is allowed for missions but no keeping/selling anything you steal
    4. Must complete all main quests, you aren't allowed to skip any (such as going straight to Pribyslavitz after talking to Reeky for example).

    Thoughts, suggestions?

Thoughts on padded and plate armor, but no mail?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 01:02 PM PST

Not for actual battle, but everyday travelling. The set is Lightweight brigantine, padding (legs, head and torso), plate coulters, neck mail etc.

My short chainmail weights like a motherfucker, so does the full neck/head chain armor. The light brigantine offer the same amount of protection, whilst burdening half of ther former's weight.

Is it me or the game?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 12:00 PM PST

I'm a few hours into the game and I'm confused about the reactions I'm getting in the hunting quest with my lord(I forgot his name).

Everything went well with the hunt, except for the one enemy soldier I stumbled upon and had to kill by the creek. Then when my man shot the boar, he told me to "mount up and follow" or something, but I didn't have a horse so I assumed he meant he wanted me to jump on the saddle behind him, enabling my crippling shipping habit. But then he just went ahead without me so I assumed that the game wanted me to have asked for a horse?

Anyway, I finally found him in the camp and after enjoying the jovial skeltal harbingers screen a few times, I managed to sneak and choke one enemy, then killed the second. I looked around and no third one came, so I untied "I hunt hare" boi. Then he starts running away for no reason but oh wait he has reason because there's suddenly another enemy following us? So I went back and killed him. Then "I'll show you your place (he said with fresh Henry-inflicted scars)" guy asked me where I've been, to which Henry jokingly replied so I assume at least that one was just a joke.

The whole thing felt kinda disconnected from my actions right after the prologue which seemed to have so many options. Is that normal or did I mess the quest stages somehow by accident? Like, would it have been different if I had killed the super secret third soldier first?
