Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:10 AM PST Let me start off by saying I got this game for an incredibly good deal at Target. The game was on clearance for 5 bucks, and considering I had no Medieval era video games on my PS4 (save for 'Witcher 3' if that counts), I thought I couldn't go wrong with a five dollar video game. First thing that impressed me (despite the occasional texture pop-in that I wish they patched), was the graphics. I remember playing this with my girlfriend next to me and thinking "damn this is like an indie studio Skyrim (cause of the castles etc)". But little did I know how off base a comparison that actually was. Firstly, in Skyrim I feel like even from the start you are a capable fighter. There are enemies that are far more powerful than you of course, but in Skyrim you have magic that you learn fairly early on and after a few hours of grinding you're already rather powerful. With this game, it couldn't be any more different. From the very beginning my typical video game thinking was challenged and I was forced to come up with different ways to confront challenges I faced. Much like others who played this game fresh, I nearly rage quit during the prologue. I couldn't kill a cuman to save my life, and within the first hour I was being surrounded by several of them as I was trying to defend Theresa's life. I didn't realize until I truly thought about it, that the idea was not to fight them, but to run. When it came time to prove to Miller Peschek that I could be a decent thief, the lockpicking mechanic made me curse the developers and their first borns. I broke all the training lockpicks before I realized that I could simply strip my armor off, get my noise to zero and knock the executioner out during the night. It was then I realized this game was different. Unlike the traditional 'everyman' in most video games, who still manages to be powerful despite being an average Joe, this game forces you to throw out your typical video game logic and way of thinking. You suck at combat, because you've never had to fight before. You fail at things other games would have you excel in from the start, because you're an illiterate peasant who spent more time throwing poop at houses than learning to read and make a man out of yourself. In essence, you play as the village idiot, and this game forces you to come up with different ways to complete a mission than often what's initially presented. For example, rescuing Hans would normally result in a swordfight in most games, this game encouraged you to wait till nightfall and sneak away undetected. Stealth is optional in many games, but with this game it's literally a matter of life or death. I'm addicted. It's buggy/flawed in spots but ultimately fantastic. I can see myself putting hours into this game, easily. Speaking of, any suggestions on how to deal with the two guards you have to kill to find Ginger? There's no way with my current swordfighting abilities that I can overpower the two of them, and trying to choke them out gets countered every time. I'm thinking arrows and running backwards (despite sucking at archery) may be the only way. But I'm open to ways that involve me being completely stealthy and never being detected. *EDIT* I just learned you can ask Captain Bernard for help. This is why this game ROCKS. So many different ways to handle even the simplest of quests! [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Dec 2019 08:16 AM PST Hello Good folks! I'm gonna attempt a hardcore Henry run and would love to hear others experiences with it. Have completed the game 2 times, one at launch and the other quite recently. Would say I know my way around the game quite well and hardcore seems like an epic challenge! Cheers! Posted: 17 Dec 2019 04:44 AM PST I have a potato PC and I managed to play with low settings and stuttering, I heard some great mods to optimize the graphics in nexus mods, which is the best without comprising the quality? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 09:30 AM PST I'm on xbox and I truly love this game. The history, the combat, the open world. But,i can't pick the locks. I've tried a very easy one well over 200 times. I can't keep my hand steady enough to turn it round no matter what I do. I'm just physically unable to do it and it sucks. I don't want to have to delete the game but if I can't avoid picking locks I'll have no choice thanks for any answers [link] [comments]

I built a PC for the sole purpose of running KCD Posted: 16 Dec 2019 02:58 PM PST I call it the Kingdom ComePuter It's true - for a few reasons my regular PC does everything I need except run KCD. I had just seen the intro to KCD, and was sold. The wonderful little castle, the charm of Henry's parents, the music! Imagine the frustration of it just not running. Couple days later my brother came home with a ton of free, ancient, discarded computers so we combined the best we could find - and, after a lot of tinkering, it worked. This was like two months ago, but only today did I realise what its name has always been. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 12:29 AM PST I have problem with dodge but always when I hit an enemy, then he block and he immediately attack (not counter attack - can't dodge this) I can't just dodge this. U know this pattern - you attack - he block-then fast attack u- then u block and go on go on go on xD I can dodge second attack ( after enemy block) or every blow that enemy starts [link] [comments]

Posted: 16 Dec 2019 10:45 PM PST I have tried both and usually end up using a mace or tossing both in favor of a longsword, but is there a reason to stick with an ax? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Dec 2019 08:22 PM PST Has anyone else turned up to go on Patrol with Nightingale in the uniform the game gives you and he acts like you aren't dressed properly? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Dec 2019 10:05 PM PST I have used the Razor since I bought it, and killed many Cumans and bandits with them, but now I bought Herod's sword, and it's a longsword. Should I stay with the Razor, or is Herod's sword better, if I have the stats stated? [link] [comments]
