Talmberg in the game and a painting from 1820 of the ruins. Amazingly accurate history in this game!

Pro tip for new players who don't have masterstrikes yet

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 07:54 AM PST

this is a super simple move/attack but it is effective against almost all enemies with the exception of bernard (because he has an adaptive ai so you can't cheese him). Basically in a 1v1 hold the stab button or the slash button and backpedal. Keep doing this until your opponent lowers his guard and runs to catch up to you. the moment they start running is when you release your finger off the slash/stab button because them running gives a very brief window for an unblockable attack since there guard is down (with the exception of bernard). Also you get extra damage because its a charged strike

It's exciting that KCD will maybe get some new fans via the switch, but I can't help feeling that it will port badly. What do you think?

Extreme desperation? Should I feel sorry for them?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 06:36 AM PST

So my Henry is just a few days into the game now, settling in at Rattay, trying to help out where he can. When he goes out trying to solve people's problems, he usually rides his trusty horse Pebbles, with his sword and shield visible, chainmail clinking underneath his leather jerkin, mail extending up over his head, which is also protected by an open-faced bascinet. I mean he doesn't look like Sir Lancelot or anything, but he's clearly got a little bit of gear.

But three times now, as I ride out, Pebbles bucks me and I hear the sounds of angry thugs come to rob poor Henry. And out of the bushes charge two or three gentlemen dressed in common clothes and wielding makeshift weapons or sometimes no weapon at all. My biggest challenge is keeping them alive so that I can tell them to leave their weapon (if any) and not do--whatever it is they think they're trying to do--ever again. I think in the future I need to just leave my sword sheathed for these particular battles.

I've really gotta wonder about the thought process of the duo or trio of raggedy bandits who spot kinda-well-armed Henry on horseback and say to each other, "Yeah, robbing him is a good idea."

    Unique/Rare Weapons

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 05:49 AM PST

I'm currently on the search for unique weapons (or armor) that aren't too often seen. I currently have the Executioner's Sword and Decorated Sabre. Are there any unique Axes, Bows, or Maces to add to my collection?

    Confused about some things

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:17 AM PST

I just finished the first training quest with Bernard. I have a few questions:

    1) Is the Inn at the end of Rattay the only place to stay there? It's so expensive. I don't have the money.

    2) When do I get a horse?

    3) I have no weapons or shields on me. Should I steal?

    4) The weapona store has such expensive weapons. When do I make money to be able to afford these?

    5) If my stay at the Inn ends, do I get locked out of my room and unable to get my inventory from the storage box?

    6) Are there lock boxes or treasures at this point that would make my life easier if I rob them?

Pro Tip: When you are at the Monastery and dont want to sleep in a bloody hay bed you can use Inquisitor Jaroslav room, after you finished Johankas Quest.

Lock on is the worst thing in this game, everything else is immaculate

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 02:28 AM PST

This game likes to jack itself off to the tune of ultrarealism at every turn (and rightly so, it fits the bill almost all the time) but damnit if lock on isn't just the most irritating thing I've ever experienced combat wise. It's impossible to switch your camera to the dude actually attacking you, at least not in time to make a difference. AI can rush at you, draw your camera's Aggro, and drag your screen around while his buddies hit you, its just absolutely ridiculous to me. It isn't realistic either, Knights in armor were more than capable of taking on more than one opponent, especially less well equipped ones.

Before anyone asks, I have no idea what a better system would look like. I'm not a game designer, it isn't my job to know. I am a player, and I am giving feedback.

    Horse gear?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 10:13 PM PST

Everywhere I go says that you buy horse gear from the Horse traders. So far, I've checked Zora in Neuhof and Johann in Mej-whatever and neither are selling horse gear. Only horses.

    Am I missing something?

    Sword of Sheeba

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 09:58 PM PST

So I have 4 of the 5 pieces of the sword and I cant find the last one. I completed the aquarius quest without bribing, so I missed out on that piece. I then looked for it at the Rattay Blacksmith, but he says he doesnt have it. How can I get the last piece?

dlc worth it right now for cheap?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 07:38 PM PST

So it's on sale and I'm wondering whether or not the dlc is decent?

Like i'm fine with it being short if that's the main complaint.. I just want it to be in line with the quality of the rest of the game and not feel jarring when I play it lol.
