What Dan Vávra (KCD director) thinks about Cyberpunk 2077

    Posted: 17 Dec 2020 03:22 PM PST

Bit of context: Dan Vávra is the director of first Mafia, designer and writer of second, and co-founder of Warhorse and creative director of Kingdom Come. Several people from Warhorse left after KCD released to joing CDP and actually worked on Cyberpunk, funnily enough. Dan has not been shy about not being super excited about the game before release (cyberpunk is not his favourite genre/setting).

He played Cyberpunk on AMD Threadripper with Radeon VII on 150" projector screen.

Anyway, here are all his tweets and FB post about it:

"Regarding all the hate against @CyberpunkGame. I was very sceptical about the game when it was announced and I didnt expect that they will repeat the success of W3. So I was totally blown by the game and its narrative. Its also technical and artistic marvel. Period."

"Finished @CyberpunkGame and apart from the slow start its a masterpiece. Story by Marcin Blacha and Tomasz Marchewka is fucking awesome and visuals are unbelievable. Congrats to @adambadowski Mateuzs Kanik and the whole @CDPROJEKTRED team. Best game of last two years for me."

"Every big openworld RPG is buggy. Its because they are so complex, thats its impossible to test them without millions of people trying all the crazy combinations that are possible in the game. @CyberpunkGame was released on 9 (!!!) platforms at launch, which makes it even harder."

"I finished the game with exactly zero game breaking bugs which would force me to reload and about two crashes that happened before hotfix. Most annoying bug is the need to change language every time I launch the game."

"Apart from many other things @CyberpunkGame had the best written love/sex scenes and relationships in a game (except Theresa in KCD of course :)) Texting with Panam was like real life. I almost really fell in love with her and the tank scene... :)"

FB (part of a larger post mostly about projector screens):

"And about Cyberpunk. Check it out. This is really absolutely top game and really revolutionary. I'm sitting in the car next to a woman. Every silly detail of the interior is there and is perfectly rendered. I see everything in life-size and you can see the seams on the jacket, but also the hairs on the carpets on the floor, the dirt on the shoe that actually steps on the accelerator pedal and the pores on the skin that can be seen under the shirt ... Nothing tells me that this is "just a game" and when you look out the window, you see a wide landscape, perfectly lit with great draw distance and incredible detail. This is truly a milestone in game history. In the times of 8-bit, every nerd dreamed of this as the greatest sci-fi. And here we have it. PS: The thing that lies just below the screen in the middle right is a gramophone record. For size comparison."

The moment I knew for certain KCD was special

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 12:56 AM PST

This was all the way back at release, but im playing it again now, so.

KCD hooked me right from the beginning, I'm a sucker for medieval stuff and story driven games, so this was great from the get go. Enjoyed the long into, this is what a good story looks like - why would I care about Skallitz or Henrys family without spending time there first.

So eventually I got to Neuhof and Berard told me "look around, dont go too far away". I find the bandits and follow their trail without even thinking about it and over the course of the next one and a half ingame days found the guy and secured the information.

So I go to Neuhof expecting a triumphant return and for Bernard to finally love me and shower me with praise, only for him to berate me and nearly kick my butt because I disappeared without a word. That was the moment it clicked for me to what lengths these devs had gone to bring their world alive.

10/10 would get yelled at again.

btw now that I play it again, A Woman's Lot is awesome, and so is Theresa. Really happy they fixed the relationship, too. Henry and Theresa are adorable.

Spoiler: In the end of the BoB dlc, I chose the option to duel Hagen. When I beat him and his men started riding off, I decided to follow them around. And this is what happened.

Hard year but this motivates me

    Posted: 17 Dec 2020 11:38 PM PST

On Apr 24 2019 I posted a Kingdom Come Deliverance video, I had amazing response and it really motivated me to pursue something in a video editing career, fortunately or unfortunately I haven't touched Adobe Premiere Pro since but I've improved in twitch streaming and other stuff. 2020 sucked for me and probably for a lot of people, I hope this video will motivate you a little bit like it does for me from time to time! Love you and remember, its just a bad day not a bad life! Might edit a new video soon for this awesome game!

If you created a Henry of Skalitz character on TES. . .

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 08:44 AM PST

What attributes, skills, and race you going with? I think it'd be hilarious to play TES as Henry.

Kingdome come still crashes on PS4

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 02:07 AM PST

I bought this game on ps store 2 months ago and im really loving it. The only thing that is really bothering me is the regular crashes. Its really annoying because this game has expensive savepoints. In the beginning the crashes were insane with every playthrough atleast 1. I red on Reddit that i had to delete my saves now and then since this game cant handle too many savefiles. This has been a serious help and the the crashes went down 80%. However this game still has more crashes than most of my other games and i was hoping if there is a future patch planned for PS4 ? I love this game but each time im heavily wounded and i wanna heal in a bathhouse i fear a crash. I only made a reddit account just for this game because i love it so much but hate the crashes. Please fix this Warhorse.

Bows are shit unless you're a masochist, my only big gripe with the game so far

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 07:50 AM PST

    Ongoing first playthrough.

Having to spend 5-6 hours in the woods grinding agility is a revolting failure of game design. The bows start out useless and one of the earliest quests has the 'possibility' of winning a guy's bow after a short archery contest. Have the devs even played/tested their own game?

It's impossible without literally hours of grind. Bows are the worst. I need to be stationary to have less sway (still terrible sway), the range is trash, it takes 3-4 seconds to load a shot, fucking animals never stay in place and they don't spawn often - all of that combines for endless frustration. I literally timed myself, I went on a 20 minute stretch without being able to hit shit. I chased them but couldn't hit a thing. On pc using mouse+kb it's still almost unplayable.

I can lockpick very hard locks after skulking a couple of nights and practicing both lockpick and stealth, with almost no challenge and coming out with fat loot. It takes an hour at most. I had lockpicks at 8-10 after like 2 hours of play, no skillbooks, around reaching rattay. Speech? No worries. Vitality? Jump in place. Herbalism? At 10 barely after clearing the intro, remember picking the leg day perk way early.

Bows? Hours on hours of struggling to hit something because the reticle is drunk and keeps doing the electric slide.

Leveling bows can go fuck itself. They may be great at lvl 10+, but those first levels are the worst to go through. You literally need to spend hours to not be complete trash. Everybody responsible should be shamed - without exaggeration the worst bows I've experienced in any game I played in my life.

Otherwise mostly loving the game and I can't believe I ignored it for so long.

    System requirements/sale

    Posted: 17 Dec 2020 07:01 PM PST

I was interested in picking up the game, looks like a lot of fun. Without any spoilers, what are your guys favorite part about the game?

I'm running a Ryzen 1600, 3000mhz 16gb RAM, and a 1660ti. What kind of performance should I expect with my setup and at what quality?

Final question, game is currently $30 on steam, I could get a key for almost half the price, but should I expect a steam sale or should I pick it up now?

[Fun Fact] There's an achivement ingame called McLoving, which is clearly a reference to Fogell's Fake ID from the movie Superbad, 2007. I love little easter eggs like this.

I owned KCD on PC but only gave it like 5-10 hours, struggled with mouse and keyboard to be honest (I know, I’m sorry), but is this a good buy for console?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 01:26 AM PST

I have a PS5 and there's no good medieval style games to play yet, and I'm getting Valhalla next week. I need to scratch the itch though, anyone able to say if this will run well?

    State of the game NOW

    Posted: 17 Dec 2020 03:31 PM PST

Hello all! First post on this sub. So I played this game back in 2018 and I was really enjoying it..albeit with a few mods. Anyway I can't remember the exact scenario, but ultimately I had to lay the game to rest as I came across a quest breaking bug. Alas now I've encountered the same buggy frustrations with another game that's just released 😐 and therefore was thinking that I coul revisit Kingdom Come. So here's my question; has this game been suitably patched over the last few years? Here's to hoping!

    Thanks in advance
