When you see a group of enemies that is too large for you to fight

I am simply amazed how much I love hardcore

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 03:46 AM PST

So, I'm now on my second playthrough, though I didn't even finish my first one. I stopped my first regular playthrough right around the time the "From the Ashes" DLC comes into play. I pretty much thought to myself: "This game is brilliant, but I notice how much I'm standing in my own way with how often I utilize fast-travel, how much I rely on those fighting indicators and how idiotically often I pull up the map and then forget which paths I need to take.

With hardcore mode all of this is gone. It's brilliant.

I was hesitant at first to start this hardcore playthrough. I didn't believe myself to find a way around the world without knowing where I am. But I gave it a try. And holy hell, it is a real challenge, but also unbelievable fulfilling. There was this moment at the start where you get sent off to Neuhof. I got my orders and started to search around the place. I pulled up the map and immediately thought "This is useless, how do I even know where I am?" And then I looked around, pulled up the map again and could locate myself spot on. I looked at the time, it was about 4 pm and tried to navigate the directions according to the sun. And it worked! I got so much better in finding my way around the world in just a few minutes. Instead of looking at the map all the time, I really looked around me, remembered ways, counted intersections and studied the horizon.

In combat, I now anticipate every step and movement the enemy makes. Carefully positioning myself to counter the next strike. No hand holding, no combat stance star, no green shield indicator for perfect block and master-strike cheating. Just you and your own reflexes and experience. I even used some combos successfully for the first time and remembered them. It's so incredibly immersive. Also this feeling of "oh if I'm stuck or just inconveniently positioned, I just fast travel to the next point" is gone!

You are there. You are Henry. You are mortal. Then sun sets and you are still in the woods. The path you're on isn't even on the map. It's getting dark and you can't use the sun to navigate yourself around. You try to remember which place looks familiar. And then, after being confused for a solid while, you finally found your way back. Back to a tavern and you can rightfully let tired and beaten Henry rest.

Nothing in the last years of playing games can compare to that one moment of taking breath in a safe bed after a long, for both parties exhausting and adventurous day.

This game is insane. Even for a short moment it virtually can make you forget that it's not you who is there, but Henry.

If anyone from the Devs might read this: Thank you. You delivered an incredible experience for me.

    Found my new fav game

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 02:45 AM PST

Discovered this amazing game on YouTube through 2kliksphilip's channel and i have to say, at first i was quite skeptical due to how over realistic the mechanics are. I'm not really someone who plays RPG games much but this game made me hooked! I still cant fathom from the fact that the first 'mission' wasn't really a mission. Like, i have invested quite some time and it was only the prologue ?! Well, fast forward 10 hours and I'm happily joining archery contest by the river. I have to say that it's really hard to stick to the mission when there is soo many side activities that can be done.

//i pirated the game to test out if i like the game and safe to say that i'll buy it during steam winter sale. Heck, i'll even buy the dlcs because the dev totally deserve my money

Is there a way to lower the difficulty ?

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 09:54 AM PST

Ok so I already made a post here because I was really getting frustrated because my opponents are way better than me, but some of you guys told me that Henry is a peasant, hence why I was struggling, and that I needed to train with Bernard. So that's what I've done, but like there's no difference, I keep getting killed. I've started using godmode, but even with godmode I hardly land one hit, at least it's preventing me from dying every 5 mins. So I'm asking again, is there a way to lower the difficulty ? Thanks

I finally understand ripposte strike and combos. Not sure what flair to use

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 02:19 PM PST

I realised you need your guard to match there's and I now actually remember combos it's probably not that impressive but I feel so happy. I'm actually able to hold my own and win fights now I have opened up a new door for this game.

What the hell is going on with my game? I can't get past the quest RUN!

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 04:44 PM PST

So I can get the horse and toggle the cutscene where Hal runs away from the bad guys, but the second the game cuts back in my horse bucks me off and there are 10 dudes on horseback trying to fill me with arrows. What the heck?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 02:07 PM PST

So i am pretty new to the game, and i was wondering, are the bad guys in the Theresa part supposed to be so tough or am i very bad at the combat? And if they are, will it be all like that throughtout the game? Thanks in advance!

New player, in need of help

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 12:30 PM PST

I'm about 6 hours into the game, not particularly e joying it but I've heard the first 10 hours or so are a bit of a slight anyway.

I've got like 50 Gruschen and not weapon other than a baton. How can I do any quests if I don't have a weapon and can't afford one?
