    Peasant ambush

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 02:59 AM PST

Today i got jumped by seven armed peasants and their dog. Mother of God. It was a sticky situation but in the end i managed to bash all of their dirty skulls in. First time fighting that many enemies at once. Quite intense!

I just finished the game and here's my review

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:43 PM PST

I just posted this to Steam an hour ago. It's nothing special but I wanted to share how this game touched my heart, y'all. Jesus Christ be praised!

    Review:

I've played every piece of content for this game. Every quest, side quest, DLC and activity. I can honestly say this is one of the most enjoyable, immersive experiences I've ever had with a game. This game is lovingly and thoughtfully crafted from the ground up. I was not an early backer, nor was I there for the earlier buggy version of the game. I will not hold that against them because the final polished product that I played was an absolute tour de force.

This game is a history nerd's dream come true. I've always loved medieval stuff but I never knew how badly I needed late medieval Bohemia in my life. What a rich and interesting history the Czech people have. I definitely have a newfound appreciation for it. You can tell the devs are patriots that want to tell the story of their people with honesty, passion and nuance. I greatly respect their level of fidelity to all things historic in this regard. From the clothing to the architecture and the people that fill the world; I was utterly spellbound and I often found myself wandering around reading the codex to educate myself on what I was seeing.

This game truly has heart. I don't know any other way to say it and I rarely say that about anything lol. These guys pulled no punches in just giving you the raw, unfiltered experience. Very rarely did I ever get the sense that the writers were trying to hit me over the head with their opinions and modern sensibilities in that classic patronizing tone we're all too familiar with these days. It feels surprisingly...self-contained. I'm used to rolling my eyes at the occasional immersion-breaking sermon being preached in most games these days but I almost never got that feeling with this game. I got to make up my own mind about the world and its people this time around. Wow--how unusually refreshing!

I read some reviews that other people posted regarding certain quests that were seen as a slog (e.g., the monastery). I can understand that to some degree but I think that's only coming from a certain kind of gamer. This game encourages you to slow down, relax and take in the experience. Look around. Talk to people. Drink in the vibe, bro. It's not every day you get to be a Benedictine monk in a video game. The game is trying to evoke something from you. How can you not take a minute to pause in thought over something like this? The game has many of these kinds of profound moments that are an absolute joy to behold. This game is like a fine wine that has been vinted with deep passion and love. Sip and savour, my friends. You won't get the full experience by rushing through it. Just my opinion.

Lastly, I just want to say I wasn't a massive fan of the combat mechanics. It can be very rewarding but there were times it still felt unrefined and a bit janky. I still appreciate their desire to keep it realistic and that it's not another hack-and-slash game, but it could be better. I don't know exactly how so I'll leave that to the experts. I still really liked it overall and it got my heart pumping like crazy since the stakes are usually high with the need to be strategic about saving your game.

9.5/10 for me. I can't wait to revisit this world again when the devs eventually release KCD2. Warhorse has my full confidence moving forward and I'll be happy to support their new endeavors. Jesus Christ be praised!

    Sharing my Henry

When you're supposed to be scouting but end up taking out the entire camp from a watchtower. Ladders are great!

Really, Ambrose? Really?! (Taken just seconds after I took all his money and made him promise to give up dice forever)

    Wow I love this game

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:04 PM PST

I played this game maybe one and a half year ago for the first time. My first playthrough took me 101hrs ( I played on hardcore). With everything going on in the world at this time I gave it another go and I am as pleased with this playthrough if not more. The first time through I was rping as Henry the honorable "knight" but now I just go around being an absolute pos and pickpocketing/thieving my way through the game and I am having an absolute blast. Yeah everyone pretty much hates me but god I am having fun. I can't wait for the sequel even if the Henry's story arch ends up never being finished. ( English isn't my first language so sorry for any mistakes/improper grammar)

The apothecary Konyash runs from me! What can i do?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 09:51 AM PST

In the very begining of the game i was not aware of the reputation mechanics and in a invasion to his store at night i killed Konyash, the apothecary from Rattay.

He took a looot of days to respawn e now that he did it, he runs every time i enter his store, i need to negociate with him, and don't know what to do anymore. Ive tried to raise my reputation with the merchants selling and buyng flowes (because is cheap) and also sell a lot of other itens i loot, but Konyash keeps runing from me every time. What can ido?

    Thanks!!!

Armoursmith zach while employed in prbysvalitz wont repair armour?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 09:17 AM PST

My armour is below 50% condition, I took it to zach who is an armorsmith at my prybisvalitz village and the game said I can't repair it because he isn't skilled enough. Why? is there any way to get him skilled enough?

Guard fined me for no torch at night for 100 gold in Rattay. I was holding a torch. I am level 3 with 108 gold so I went to jail instead. Is this a common thing? Can I avoid it?

I need your opinion on which version of the game to buy. Xbox One X or PC.

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 06:57 AM PST

Xbox One X or PC with a GTX 1070, 16+GB of RAM, pretty decent CPU and a HDD but no SSD as is recommended.

I normally tend to pick things up on PC nowadays but I'd be very happy for input and maybe your experiences.

Also I had the base game on ps4 but I gave that away last year. Just saw the game on sale and said I'd give it a shot again.

    Thanks

Will the blacksmith in Rattay respawn?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 10:52 PM PST

I killed him ages ago (and everyone that lived with him including the apprentice and guard) and while his icon is still on the map, no one is there..... lol

I don't know how to fight multiple enemies

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 06:20 AM PST

I am good in the 1x1 but don't know how beat 2 or 3 at the same time,

Is my first time playing the game, i have now 25h and not long ago i sucked at combat. So i did some search and a lot of training with Bernard. Now i've learned the master strikes and beat Bernard with real swords in the arena, so i think i not suck at combat (had beaten the huntsman in the treasure location near Talmberg with no trouble)

But every time i face more than 1 enemie they atack me fom the side and even in my back. When iam atacking or defending from one, the other hit me fron the side, so i try to run, get out of stamina and they catch me.

I want to know how to fight agaist mutiple enemies, how to not let them sorround me.

    Anything iam missing?

    Any tips?

    Thaks!!!
