Here's my Steam review after finishing the game. If you're on there, go show it some love pls.

I feel like you need to understand the place where I'm at in order to better understand me and the experience with this game so bear with me for a little bit. My last gaming experience was my PS2 prob in 2002-2003 in college, I remember playing Duke Nukem and the first Metal Gear solid. Then life happened. I was just too busy to give games time in my life. Then COVID happened. Due to having access to free games (bought the NVIDIA Shield and it came with some), I decided to start playing some. My very first experience was with Spec Ops The Line, and OMG did that leave an impression on me. When the credits rolled, I remember just sitting there, not moving, remote still in hand and my mind really REALLY F'd. What did I just play? What have games ascended to nowadays?... I have to tell you that if you call yourself a gamer and you haven't played Spec Ops The Line, then I don't even know what you're doing with your life. That game is not about the graphics or gameplay, it's about the last 5 minutes of the story and how that truly makes a twist in the protagonist story and makes you question EVERYTHING that happened on that game. Needless to say, do me a favor and go play that game. So I was hooked. I needed to explore this NEW world of gaming that I had stumbled across. I was also in the process of building my home PC/rig (computer enthusiast) so it was out of the question what my gaming platform was going to be.
    Enter Kingdom Come: Deliverance..
Me and my father always enjoyed anything medieval (movies mostly) so anything with knight armor and good open field battle where limbs are being hacked, has my attention. I came across the KCD page on steam and well had to have it. I started playing it and within the first 5-10 minutes I was filled with regret. I couldn't manage the controls, or rather I didn't know how to work them, I tried to fight some dude and got my ♥♥♥ kicked, I was given chores and had no idea what to do. Think about a toddler trying to tie their shoes without knowing how and no help. I thought it was not what I wanted. I wanted action, I wanted to fight, I wanted something easy. What is this thing I had gotten myself into? I couldn't get my money back cause it was way past the time to return it. Oh well, I guess I have no other choice but to give it some time and let the story develop and see if I'm going to stick around for more....was my thought.
    Sooo glad I did.....
I tried to read a bit about it to see if it was indeed worth it to stick around. Then I read it was an RPG....What the heck is that?...google "what is an RPG?"....hmm interesting. Let's keep pushing through and give it more time, I already paid for it, I might as well get some of my money in playtime.
    The tides turned....
I reach the point in the game where I was given a "tournament quest"... just enroll and the tourney and win it!!, easy right? nope. Kept getting my ♥♥♥ handed to me over and over. This took me to the Reddit page of the game where I asked for help about how to fight in this game. This is when EVERYTHING changed for me about this game. The short answer from the people there was to level up my character. Holy heck what a difference did that make. I went from peasant to superhero and was able to fight anyone anywhere.
What a vast world this is..
Once I leveled up and understood the mechanics of the game, I truly enjoyed exploring the vastness of this world. In doing the side quests you learn to hunt, horse ride, improve strength, agility, speech, etc. etc. making your character Henry a super badass outdoor/knight dude. *Don't forget to train with Bernard as much as you can*. I also learned what a "world" is in "video game terms" and the world here is vast and rich. You really have to behave accordingly, i.e. not assault people in the street or steal something in plain view, but trust me, you do get the chance to choke people out, fight them and steal whatever you want, you just can't get caught. There are about 13 cities/locations on the map and they all have their own unique feeling with vendors/traders/armorers/tailors/cobblers that you have to interact and do commerce with. You have to build your wealth. For me, the easiest way was to start fighting enemies, steal their armor and fix it and sell it around the towns. You also get to DRINK!!, get drunk one night or two and see where you wake up, you never know, you might be far away from home. Play some dice WHILE drunk! ,,, you can go to the taverns and play dice while drinking with the customers there and win all their money. There are caves and silver mines you get to explore and get lost in. The forest/woods area is HUGE. You will find all sorts of things there, you might be walking around and decide to shoot this one rabbit or full grown deer that just appeared next to you, you can skin it and get the hides or get the antlers or teeth, or the meat, you can sell all of this to make your wealth as well but consider that killing game is also considered against the law. But is another way of making your wealth. You will learn to brew your own potions and remedies that will help you in fights (give you more stamina and regenerate health faster). There are "bathhouses where you can pay for a wench and some "good time" any time you want, they can also heal your wounds when you need to heal so keep that in mind. You need to learn how to read, as a blacksmith's son in 1403 you and a lot more people would be illiterate so you need to pick up and develop this skill as well, it will come in handy later on. As you do all these activities your character keeps leveling up so when you encounter your next enemy, you'll have the upper hand. There are MANY side quests that truly immerse you into exploring all the little niches of the game, I highly suggest that you try an do them all.
All the locations and characters are real locations and people, well maybe not Henry, but the kings and story of the time is real. Google the cities and you'll find the rich history that this game is based on. Cities like Rattay, Talmberg, Ledetchko, Sasau, Uzhitz, etc... it's all there. Research about King Wenceslas and Sigismund of Hungary.
This game was my introduction to what an "open world" "RPG" game really is, and I can't be more happy with my decision to continue the game when I had my doubts about it. I finished this with 182 hours of game time and I know I left parts of the world unexplored. I haven't done the DLC's yet but I definitely will once the Steam sales are up and running. I might give it a chance to go for 100% achievement completion but don't know yet. I really love this world, I love Henry and his journey, I love the time that this game is based on and I love the attention to detail that White Horse put in developing this game.
To sum up, this game is DEF worth your time, def worth my 182 hours so far on it. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more hours exploring the DLC's and more of the world. But don't take my word for it, try it yourself.

I love the alchemy and grindstone in this game! Has anyone seen any other games with similar crafting mechanics?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 09:32 AM PDT

I really enjoy the in depth crafting rather than the more common "get the ingredients and hit craft." This is one of the only games ive seen so far with more to it than that.

    Is the DLC worth it?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 08:37 AM PDT

I really enjoyed my first play through of Kingdom Come and recently reinstalled it to start a 2nd play through. I was thinking of buying the DLC to add to the experience. I wanted the communities opinion of the DLCs. Is it worth buying them all or just a few?

    Should Armour have different requirements?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 08:35 AM PDT

So, after playing this game for a while, I ended up making my second mod. And it is basically a change of the requirements for armours.

I feel that it is too easy to get (very) good armour quite early in the game. This makes what is like a survival game in the very early stages of the game, to a "here we go again" moment, over and over.

I always miss the early stages of the game, where you measure the dangers before engaging and being afraid all the time is really exciting and immersive.

Whit that said, I am thinking of "ranking" the armour types into different levels to make the game more interesting, challenging and to give another layer of progression.

My question is, at what stage should plate armour be available? Around level 15?

    Very loosely I was thinking: - level 5 padded/leather equipment - level 9 mail armour equipment - level 13 brigandine/rivetted - level 16 plate armour components

All these number are strength/agility related since there is no other way to limit the gear.

Game keeps crashing my PC, forces me to reboot every time.

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 05:27 AM PDT

I have around 530 hours of gameplay, left the game for a while, significantly upgraded my rig about a year later, re-downloaded KCD and now I can barely leave Skalitz without being forced to hard reset my PC.Every other games runs like it should, smoothly and without problems even on the highest settings but KCD leaves me scratching my head.

The "crashes" happen entirely randomly, could be just picking a herb, a cutscene, a scene transition, just walking around etc. there doesn't seem to be a connection to a specific and obvious trigger. I have limited my fps to 80 (otherwise it jumped around from 120 to 180 to 30 in cutscenes to sometimes dropping down to 60 etc, was annoying so capping the FPS helped with that but not the crashes).

    specs:

    CPU - i9-9900k (old cpu - i5-7400)

RAM- 16 GB (old ram- using the same RAM)

    GPU - RTX 2080ti (old GPU - GTX 1080ti)

    PSU - 1200w (old PSU - 750w)

MB - msi mpg Z390 gaming plus

The game is installed on an SSD, if that's relevant.

    any suggestions/fixes?
