KCD is hands down the best game I've played in 10 years

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 09:34 AM PDT

Just finished the game tonight after approximately 115 hours, including most DLCs (Theresa's, Capon's, Radzig's and Pribyslavitz).

I honestly can't think of a story that's affected me this much. I have laughed out loud, felt genuine anger, and even held back tears at some points. There are so many truly memorable characters and they all had such developed, unique, believable personalities.

Even side quests have so much love and detail put into them. I'm conscious of spoilers, but let's just say that if you manage to finish one quickly, you've probably missed most of it and unknowingly got the bad ending.

Combat feels weighty and realistic. I played stealth so I never really got too advanced at swordplay, and it was refreshing to still be highly vulnerable to trained, well armed enemies right up until the end. I never felt like I was invulnerable, and compounding that, every life I did take felt significant.

All of that set in a beautifully rendered 15th century Bohemia, with hundreds of pages of lore and historical detail to read up on if you so desire. 10/10 would come to see Henry again.

    I literally can't hit anybody

    Posted: 11 Apr 2020 10:49 PM PDT

I'm a good way through the story, my second playthrough, but I just have the hardest time hitting anybody other than peasant ambushes. It ends up in me and the enemy doing perfect blocks over and over until THEY get the riposte where I rarely do. I've learned the master strike and my levels are pretty good. I'm practicing at Pribyslavitz at the guardhouse training area with the Slightly Advanced opponent and he's kicking my ass. He blocks everything and I rarely get a hit while he ripostes EVERYTHING. It's super annoying and I have no idea how to get around it.

    Warfare skill bugged?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 08:07 AM PDT

Has anybody managed to get the warfare skill up to 20? I maxed out every combat skill, bow, mace, axe, sword, and unarmed, but I still need like 5 xp to get to warfare 20. It's annoying.

    My Sword!!! [SPOILERS]

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 04:36 AM PDT

So I just saved Stephanie and Sir Radzig and went to the meeting with Margrave Jobst. I was very excited to have a quest (epilogue) after the credits. Even the Vengeance main quest was still active. Looking forward to my new adventure with Hans, I set out with him. After being told 3 times that the castle we were riding towards was a sight to behold, I was kinda expecting to at least see it. Much disappoint at the end of this genius game. Is there any DLC that lets you kill Markvart von Aulitz? Or should i wait for kcd 2?

    Huntsman Nicholas by Talmberg

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 09:07 AM PDT

The aforementioned huntsman has a quest for me, as he's marked on my map & compass with that yellow six-pointed star. However, when I talk to him, I have no option to ask for work. Does anyone know how to fix this? It might be bugged because I stole his horn back when I escaped from Talmberg in the prologue, not knowing what it was for or that it was a quest item.

Finished KCD on PS4, thinking about buying it on PC

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 03:02 AM PDT

I love this game so much, I've just finished the main story and got here to look at all the memes without spoilers. Now I can see that the graphics in the screenshots and videos are much better than the wonky ones I saw and from the videos on YouTube the fighting system seems to be much better and more fluent. Those were my main problems with this game and now I'm thinking about doing the next run on PC. I've a decent, but not a gaming laptop, new generation I7, 8 GB ram, GTX 1050 MAX Q. Do you think I will feel enough of a difference to justify buying the game again?

EDIT: I bought it and I'm amazed! I have default medium settings and it already seems like 10 years difference in terms of game development. It's so smooth and beautiful!

    Epilogue Quest

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 08:57 AM PDT

I am confused. I have rode to the camp in Neuof with Sir Hans. When I talk to him, the only dialogue option I am able to select is DLC? Have I done something wrong? or do I need to proceed with this DLC quest? Thanks

Purchased the game today, yet to play it. Any non-game-ruining tips?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 12:50 AM PDT

I want to still feel challenged but I'm also aware of how steep the learning curve is. Are there small tips and/or tricks that might lube me up without making me so slippery I can't feel anything?

    Screen tearing

    Posted: 11 Apr 2020 11:59 PM PDT

I did the r_vsync and sys_maxfps in the game directory and that worked for 3 hours until I left to make dinner and when I came back it was back to screen tearing. Ive restarted resaved the file and tried doing the commands in the ingame console but to no avail. Any other ways?

Is the Game just poorly optimized or is it a problem on my end? (i7-7700k/RTX2070s)

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 06:04 AM PDT

Withoud mods the game runs horrendeous and even with what I believe is the most current version of the optimized graphics mod ( https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/743?tab=description ) the game runs VERY poorly on even low to medium settings once I enter a village. Outside I get around 45-70FPS but once inside a busy location things drop to around 25-35.
I usually play games on 1440p but here I play on 1080p and it's still a huge mess in busy spots.
