    Questions about Hardcore Merciful Runt

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 07:05 AM PST

    Context

I'm doing a Hardcore run (with all negative perks) and going for the Merciful trophy at the same time.

As such I've skipped past every unnecessary moment in an attempt to get it over with ASAP.

However I've come undone at Baptism of Fire. I can get through the main battle fairly easily, but so far Runt has fucked me 4/4 times.

    Stats

    I'm level 5

My highest skill is Strength, at 3

All of my combat skills are 0-1

The only sword I can use does 36 DMG

    I have peasant clothing

The only combat perk I have is the one that reduces the chance of bleeding

My only potions are 3 Marigolds and 2 Artemisias

Using an Artemisia I can equip an axe that does 30 DMG for 10 minutes

I'm close to 100 nourishment so using a potion overstuffs me

    Questions

    • What are the chances that I can actually beat Runt like this? One attempt I hit him 8 or so times, but that was using an axe I didn't have the stats for

    • If indeed currently possible, would the sword or the axe be more viable?

    • Is there any way I can sneak/cheese a save just before fighting him? Maybe by running far away from the battle or exiting at a precise moment

    • If my current stats are too low, what would you say are the minimum stats required to beat him? I would go and get better armour/a mace/Lazarus/poison etc too

    • Can I raise my combat stats indefinitely just by sparring with Bernard? I want to waste as little time as possible on this, so ideally just training with him for a day or two straight would be enough

Don't know how else to explain it but yeah, they hate me. The game says to "do good deeds" but I have no idea what they are. What should I do?

P.S: is it because I robbed the Bailiff dry?

    Cumans -christian barbarians

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 04:30 PM PST

I think cumans are some of the least explored characters in the game. After playing I noticed how little is explained about them, yet what we see is more than enough to know how a medieval peasant would feel about them sacking their lands. So this gave them quite a misterious feel surrounding them during the game.

A little bit of history, Cumans were actually technically christians. This because, since they were useful mercenaries, Hungarian kings converted them so that they could wash their hands whenever questioned on why they employ barbarians in their armies. I'd love to see how they could be portrayed. Actual christians? Tribals only christians in paper? An actual mixture of christian and tribal beliefs? The posibilities are endless.

Anyways, I love how the game portrayed them like a cool misterious villain that hides its face under a cool helmet, like Boba Fett in SW. So I think the sequel should explore deeper into the lore of Cumans, just like the Mandalorians in SW.

Modding with the PC Game Pass edition

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 05:52 AM PST

Hello everyone! I've recently gotten the game through the Xbox Game Pass on PC. I'm loving the game so far but I really don't know how to mod it. The folder in which the game is in is blocked in some kind of way and I just can't figure out how to unlock it. I tried giving full permissions to everyone but I am still not able to copy files or create new folders. i also tried accessing the folder with Ubuntu but it says it can't access the folder. It's driving me crazy, does anyone know how to get around this?

What would you say is the ideal compromise between protection and stealth?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 08:56 PM PST

I'm at the point where I want to be leveling the thieving skills, but I also don't want to have to have two sets of armor that I carry around or have to go back to my stash and switch between. I also don't want to be hacked to bits any time I'm discovered by more than two enemies.

So what would you all say is the solution? How much Noise can I afford to have if I want to be pretty stealthy, but still have good protection in melee?

    Starting Village.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 06:29 AM PST

I just started playing and have tweaked with all forms of the graphic settings. high, medium and low. at medium I get an easy 90-100fps in this starting zone but when I walk, run it feels like its really sluggish, like the fps im seeing in the corner of my screen isnt really what im getting.
Really hurting my eyes and causing me to not want to play.

Anything to be done about this?

    Facts regarding combat mechanics

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 04:01 PM PST

Hi, I played Chivalry:MW, dozens of Assassins Creed, Skyrim, Witcher 3 and what not. But so far I didn't figure it out how fighting works in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I couldn't recognize which mechanics are used here, and which are missing or totally different. So far it's just buttonmashing.

Found lots of incomplete, outdated, misleading or opposing statements.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you help me gather the facts?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    • Simple block: Enemy does a couple of swings. Do I have to press block for each swing at a specific time, or just hold it? (Tutorial said to not block constantly as it will drain all stamina. However, I can't distinguish if rapidly tapping block-button works, one tap would be enough, or I don't block any and my armor+stamina protects me.

    • Riposte / perfect block: (My character is lvl 12 and I did unlock it.) When do I press block (pc standard: Q)?
    1. At the start of the enemies armswing
    2. When the green shield shows up, asap
    3. When the green shield is outline with white

    • Counter attack: Often times I feel like I do a good riposte, make the enemy stumble, but then lose all momentum and get stuck in doing nothing for 1-2 seconds. Instead of connecting the parry with an attack fluidly, I'm charging a new basic attack, losing my window of opportunity. Too late, enemy recovered.
    1. Do I have to click(/press) an extra attack at the right time after blocking? Hold to charge the swing and release?
    2. Or will there be an automatic counter attack from my side if I just pressed block at the right timing?

    • Aiming and timing: If you don't know:

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare had manual realtime aiming and blocking. Attacks started with a charging animation that could be interrupted, and released with a swing which couldn't. Block had a certain safezone based on weapon (and or shield) and a recovery time afterwards.

Turning your characters body with the swing would make your weapon touch the enemy faster. Turning against the swing direction would delay it. First was used as a super fast attack. The latter to delay your attack just enough for your swing to connect to the enemy after his block runs out and he's stuck in recovery.

You follow the tip of the weapon to block. Otherwise, enemies could hit you in the sides, your legs or above your shield around your cover. It wasn't perfect because of latency and people abusing physics and strange animations. But it was a pretty fun and challenging system...

How does it work in Kingdom Come Deliverance:

    1. Do I have to aim for the enemies tip of the weapon to block his attacks?
    2. Or is it just timing and those attack zones only matter for MY attacks (and combos), so I don't swing left when the enemy carries a shield, for example.

Twisting/turning: Some combos tell to fake attacks and twist your weapon around the enemy. Is there such a system? Does it matter if i move my attack-zone-indicator clockwise or anti-clockwise? Or just rp-discription for atmosphere, and you should just move your cursor directly?

Combos and visibility: Are there mods to increase size / tweak colours of the huds attack indicator? Reduce screen shake? I find it very hard to differentiate yellow from white during heat of battle.

Or do I have to preemtively decide what combo to try? Perform it asap or press attack 2 and 3 when the previous one touches the enemy? Timings?

Skillpoints: Combat & Weapon - What do they do? Faster? More damage? Reduced blockchance for the enemy? Smaller window for blocks? More slow-motion?

    Thanks in advance

    Performance Issues

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 10:37 PM PST

Hey guys, I've been getting 30-40 fps out in the wilderness and 10-20 fps in fights/cities. Anybody have any ideas about whats going on because I feel like my system should be able to get higher frame rates. I also have been running the game at medium settings.

    Specs:

    Geforce Gtx 1070

    Ryzen 7 3700X

    32GB of DDR4 RAM

    Running at 1080p

Won by the skin of my teeth, I got knocked unconscious and he bled out, definitely the most intense fight i've had in hardcore. (at the end i find the guy that i fought with, he has all his armor broken)

When does Captain Bernard become available to train again?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:58 PM PST

So basically the title. I finished Ginger in a Pickle and I am off to Ushitz to find the guy with the limp. I really need to train though, I got ambushed by 5 or 6 peasants with bludgeons and i wasn't kitted out, i died so fast I wasn't even able to get a hit in. Of course 2nd time going through same area with all my gear and nada, lol.
