    Combat animations?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 06:59 AM PST

On PS4, and First off, love this game. (No spoilers plz!). I've Never had more fun doing non gaming stuff in a game. I could play for hours without even touching the combat.

It's not game breaking or anything, and I think it might be more user error than actual game mechanics (I'm not that great at the game) but I've noticed the animations in combat can sometimes be a bit.. off. Slow motion Master striking when I'm out of reach, parry animations looking awkward and I parry with my elbow or the very tip of my sword, sometimes my camera goes to the left/right and is off centered from who I'm locked onto. Just stuff like that, and it mostly revolves around slow motion master strikes.

I watch videos of combat tips online and the animations look so much smoother and more realistic. I've looked for updates and nothing. Is that how the combat is on consoles? Or is it user error? Or is there a way to fix it potentially?

Nothing ground breaking honestly. Just curious if there's a way to fix it.

    Thanks!

    Baptism of Fire

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 10:12 PM PST

My only armor is the common bascinet and vambraces, everything else is just clothes. I've gotten past the first and second group of men at the cuman camp but can't get past the third group at the fight through the church objective. I read on the fandom that you should be pretty well armed during this quest. What should i do? Thanks guys

I'm considering doing a piece of fanart. Which horse deserves to be in it?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:02 PM PST

I'm considering doing a piece of fanart for this game because I'm utterly in love with it. There's nothing I love more in the game than my horse. Any horse that's mine honestly (Especially Pebbles and Shadowmere). Tbh the sketch I have made was more of a destressing sketch, but I thought, why not put in a little bit more. I'm not sure if I'll finish it, but the first hurdle is to pick the horse I want in it.

I'm not too good at drawing real animals or even humans, but it's worth a try lmao.

    Here's the sketch.

    https://sta.sh/011k4zh17zrv

I'll be putting the more popular horses in the poll.

Pebbles: All round good boye, stuck with me the entirety of my first playthrough until he started betraying me in my hardcore playthrough. He has the most matching colour to most of Henry's armour sets.

Jenda: Stuck with me through thick and thin as I skewered enemies left and right. Trusty steed. I use the All the pretty horses mod so he has a grey colour with black ear tips. But I'll put an option for both.

Shadowmere: My lategame monster. I love this horse a lot, but his colour scheme is a bit too dark for the artwork. BUT if he is loved I'll still slam him in.

Al Buraq: Because he's amazing but I never used him.

    Hardcore or mods?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 05:31 AM PST

So I've got a few days free and I'm coming back to KCD. I love the challenge of the game but I quickly became rich AF last time I played.

So for a greater challenge would y'all recommend playing hardcore or using a handful of mods to make things tough?

    Cheers Lords.

Killing people after they give activity, any downsides?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 08:01 AM PST

So I'm playing a noble no crime Henry and to get rid of the crime activity markers that I don't want to do I'm planning on accepting the quests then killing the people. From a role playing standpoint Henry is fooling the activity givers by accepting the quest than smashing their head in with a mace from behind (or sniping them to avoid a bounty) to rid Bohemia of no-gooders, but it's really just to get rid of these annoying question marks. Does this have any downsides? I know the game stops you from attacking important characters, but I want to make sure before I go and smash miller peshek's skull in and the old woman at the inn.

KCD's main story weakness and thoughts on the sequel

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 07:46 AM PST

Saw a topic asking about the sequel, which made me think of the main story and how it would continue. Some are saying it's a direct sequel to the first one, others say it may jump ahead 30-40 years or more, maybe Hussite Wars or whatever.

This made me think about the main story of the game, which was a weak copout.

Henry's personal main story was very engaging - from the moment you escape Skalitz, through building relationships with Theresa, Capon and Radzig, to the Neuhof attack and counterfeit coin investigation, to the moment you attack Vranik - after which the game totally deflates and weakly limps over the finish line.

The main issue is the squabbling HRE kings backstory and the Vengeance overarching quest - we don't get to finish it since we never see Baldy Von Moustache again. Both go nowhere.

The Sigismund/Wenceslas story was as impactful as a wet fart - the HRE is possibly the most boring history period ever, you can't make me care about it - especially when nothing happens. King gets kidnapped by a brother/cousin or some puppet of another province's nobles. Rinse, repeat. Dipshit attacked and razed our town, so of course the game ends with some nobles writing a nicely worded letter to appeal to other nobles to plot against him again and... zzzZzzzzzZzzzz

I utterly hate games which leave everything on an underwhelming cliffhanger and then have a weak sequel hook. Do a game, think of a story for the game and finish it. If you can't think of a decent enough final act around the HRE kings, then at least finish the personal story of the main character in a satisfying way. Having us complete the Vengeance quest would have been a decent capper to conclude things.

How do you salvage this utterly trash big picture plot if you do a big timeskip - do we just get the Sigi/Wenc resolution via an intro infodump? Are we going to still chase a 70 year old Baldy McMoustacheface as a 50 year old Henry?

    Installing mods

Where do I find mods like unlimited save and how do I install them and put them in the game I've tried looking in steam workshop but found nothing :(

Near Sasau there's a bandit camp next to open farmland fields. Its location is perfect for horseback archery training on live targets with basically zero risk. As soon as you get any bow and arrows and any horse, even in early game, you can come here and level up archery and harvest tons of loot

    Tedious?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:30 PM PST

    Minor spoilers ahead.

Is KCD tedious? And I don't mean boring, I explicitly mean tedious. I get that the game is supposed to be realistic, I know that you're just a peasant and you're going to get your ass kicked. You are nobody. You feel like it's hard? Yeah, it's supposed to be hard, that's okay.

I speak as someone picking up the game again after being frustrated with it and rage-deleting. I love the medieval RPG genre and the realism of KCD but I honestly DREAD going through that prologue again. It is so long and it took me ages to figure out without googling how to get out of Talmberg.

Lockpicking is awfully hard. Okay not unexpected but still a bit too much for me.

Potion making? Saving with Saviour Schnapps? Sure, great system actually. The process of brewing them is a big no. What even is the difference between boiling and simmering? No matter what you answer I will find the reddit thread/YT video that says the opposite.

Guard patrol mission? It's bearable the first time as it's basically a tour of the town, sure. Now this is the second time and I DREAD it. I would have to walk through all that once again, oh God...

Hunting with Hans? Even getting to the forest on foot/trotting behind Hans' horse is TEDIOUS. Finding and killing hares is also very tedious.

Then you finally get to some combat in the next mission I think and you accidentaly hit an ally with your sword in first-person and they all turn hostile. That's when I broke and rage-deleted the first time. Now after several months I want to give it another shot as I LOVE the idea of a realistic medieval open-world RPG and there aren't many these days.

Am I just experiencing a case of "git gud" and being intolerant or the game is just tedious on a second playthrough?
