Just To Make It Clear (Combat Question)

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 10:34 PM PST

I picked up this game early this year and I am very much enjoying it. I think it is in at least top 5 for me. I have not felt anything like this for many years.

This is my first playthrough and I am doing fine (full combat build, no stealth at all), but I do have some questions and doubts about the combat aspect.

I've read tons of reviews and guides but they don't seem to be reflecting my experience. However, I noticed some comments that share experiences very similar to mine. So just to make it clear:

    1) Longsword is the best weapon due to high defence and high attack and range (and effeciency even against plated enemies) compared to other options

    2) Shield is actually bad for you because it obscures your field of view and because you're supposed to riposte/perfect block instead of using shield

    3) Being the first to strike is the worst tactic, it can ruin you quickly even with weaker opponents

    4) Every NPC in the game knows how to riposte or at least do perfect block (even Zola)

    5) Chain strikes (combos) are literally impossible because the NPC can block (or ripost) even the first strike (or at least the second one in the chain) even after a succesful clinch or riposte (especially at higher levels)

    6) Even if combos were possible, they are not worth the risk compared to the damage and reliability of the trusty auto-riposte, especially when you're outnumbered

    7) Fighting in a dogpile against 6 and more plated knights is impossible unless your just spam Q and succeed at auto-riposte and are lucky enough to not get stuck in an enemy's attack/riposte animation

    8) The only reliable tactic against large groups is baiting, kiting and killing in smaller groups

I'm not saying combat is hard or anything like that. It is actually quite doable and I much prefer it to the tedious stealthy approach. But it seems like not all the intended combat mechanics are actually usable. And not all weapons are equally effective (I tried using axe and no matter how long I practice on bandits it still feels like I am gimping myself). So I wanted to confirm that I am not missing anything and my experience is standard for the majority.

    Stolen items

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 07:51 PM PST

I'm not sure how many people know this, I haven't seen it on question boards or on here, but in Rattay atleast (I'm not sure about other major settlements) there is an evidence chest in the top floor of the armoury that holds all your stolen goods you got caught with, which luckily, once you've unlocked it once, stays unlocked throughout the entire playthrough

PSA: Exit saves are not deleted immediately after loading them.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 07:30 AM PST

Seeing a lot of misinformation on other posts, so I wanted to clarify how exit saves work.

Once you're in game, the exit save is hidden and won't appear in the load save list. Quit without saving and the exit save will still be there. Exit saves are only deleted when you make a new exit save.

Just finished the game! The unlikely friendship between Henry and Hans was definitely the highlight of my playthrough. I hope we'll see more of them being stupid together in the sequel

First time installing mods, what am i doing wrong?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 04:18 AM PST

So i tried to install Way Too Immersive mod for shits and giggles. I made a Mods folder in my C:\Kingdom Come Deliverance game directory and placed the mod folder inside but nothing happened. I then tried with other mod (the increased timescale) and it also didn't work. What am i doing wrong?

Killing Runt before "Baptism by Fire" quest

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 03:17 PM PST

So i'm doing the nest of vipers quest now, and i don't want to do it the stealth way, so i'm wondering if i'll be able to kill runt before the baptism by fire quest, and if so will i miss out on the cutscenes, or will he just respawn

What should I play next ?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 11:58 AM PST

    Hey guys !

My girlfriend and me played KC:D A LOT (almost 100%) and got to the end of that genuinely good game. She enjoyed the heavy historical aspect and the realistic feeling this game has.

Now I'm wondering which game should we play next. Do you guys know a game that she could like for the same reasons ?

    Thanks in advance !

I still don't get "A bird in the hand"

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 04:06 PM PST

I have recently started a new game and again i did that mission and to this day I don't get why the master hunter says the birds are nightingales while they clearly aren't. Is it a joke or an Easter egg?

I know it's extremely minor but I keep thinking to those birds.
