    Possible 1vs1 fight exploit

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:47 AM PST

I think i figured out an exploit when i was training with Bernard. Since i havent read about it anywhere before i will give an explanation.

    1. Your Strength Stat must be high
    2. If you come to close to an enemy during a fight, you get the animation where your weapon is crossed with the enemies weapon. If your Strength is higher then the strength of your enemy you can win this tiny battle by pressing the attack button. If you win, the enemy gets staggerd and you can hit another strike.
    3. Repeat this procedure over and over. Just get close, win the strength test and hit a strike, come close again. this will guarentee you to win a 1vs1, only good fighters are able to counter the attack after the strength test once in a while.

Let me know if you heard about it before

I assume I'll receive an alchemy tutorial at some point?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 08:15 AM PST

I'm pretty early into the game, just completely the Ginger in a Pickle quest. I wanted to take some time to do some side content, and one of the things I wanted to try was alchemy. I've received tutorials in lots of other mechanics, like pickpocketing and lockpicking and of course combat, but not in alchemy. I tried it on my own based on the in-game instructions. The only recipe available to me at the moment is poison, based on the book by the alchemy stand. That seems quite useful, but alchemy seems very complicated and I failed my first attempts. Will I receive a helpful in-game tutorial or am I supposed to try to learn it myself?

    Absolutely incredible introduction

    Posted: 28 Dec 2020 12:40 PM PST

    Obvious spoilers ahead.

This is my first time playing KCD. I just woke up in Rattay after playing through the opening sequence and I'm simply amazed

I can't remember the last time I booted up a game and had it hook me like this.

The most fascinating part about it to me is that it's not even a remotely original premise. If anything, it's actually cliche. Evil guy arrives with army...family killed in front of your eyes, lover is murdered, entire town slaughtered etc...

We've seen this a hundred times, yet somehow (in my opinion) they were able to turn a typical video game trope into something much greater. And they did it through atmosphere, character building and storytelling. Even more impressive, they did it in such a ridiculously short period of time. Took me maybe 3 hours to get to where I'm at.

It's through the fewest but most well-delivered cutscenes too. Working at the forge with his dad was fantastic. You could feel the emotion in their voices. And then the very sudden attack on the town. That genuinely surprised me after the game lulled me into thinking I was going to have a bunch of lighthearted fun in this quaint town.

Then you get to the castle and have that really sweet moment with the woman in your candle-lit room with the pattering of rain outside your window. It was a wonderful scene.

Then there's the next one where you think the castle is about to be burned down just like the last village, but cooler heads prevail while lying through their teeth. That was a really tense and powerful moment.

And of course, going back to your home and witnessing the carnage, finding your friends and family ruthlessly cut down. Thieves and bandits ransacking their corpses for loot like they're nothing. Having to ask to borrow a shovel to dig your parents' grave just to be turned down by some vile prick. Yes I called him vile. Just that little incident alone made me despise him, and that's how I know the game is doing it right.

Then the attack, and the credits start to roll with the music...oh that music. Glorious.

I'm crazy tired and could have wrote this more eloquently but regardless, I'm excited to see where this story goes. It's funny, because when you look at the game on YouTube and in reviews it seems so clunky and unrefined. And to a degree, it definitely is. But there's a level of charm they manage to attain despite the fact, and I think the jankiness makes the amazing storytelling that much more unexpected.

Overall, I'm so far enjoying the combat and game mechanics btw. It feels unpolished to an extent and clunky as hell but it works for me.

Anyway, can't wait to wake up later and get back to it. Enjoy your day and thanks for reading.

How to defeat Sir Bernard (real weapons)

    Posted: 28 Dec 2020 11:49 PM PST

First, I recommend you to wear armor if you're going serious because, with real weapons, you can die within a few hits. Remember when he taught you how to use combos with the bastard sword? yeah, choose the long sword for the duel, and spam that combo. His body is very well armored but his head, not so much. Since the stab up hits the head, one hit should take about one-sixth of his HP.

Tip: Remember that Bernard is a Block pro, so if he perfect blocks your hits, defend immediately.

    One thing I hate

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:47 AM PST

If Henry has his sword/shield active, and then goes into a crouching position, the sword/shield disappear, and he walks, crouched, with his empty left hand extended slightly in front of him. If I'm spotted while sneaking, which happens a lot, combat starts frantically, and I need to act fast. By instinct I quickly get out of sneak and press "1" to take out my sword and start blocking. However, I'm treated to the rather slow animation of Henry putting his sword away. At that point it's already pretty much over. I'm blocking with my fists, they're hitting me, I'm pounding "1" again to try to take out that damn sword again...game over.

Is it possible to poison the monastery?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:52 AM PST

I got bane potions and I went into the kitchen, but I can't interact with the pot. Idk if this is a glitch or if it's supposed to be like that.

For anyone who did the monastery quest, y'all know why I'd wanna kill them all.

I tried stealth killing them in their sleep, but I only manage to kill 16 before the guards show up, so I'm looking for something that'd actually kill them all.

    I didnt expect that...

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:21 AM PST

I may have went on a mass-killing spree and slaughtered every guard, trader, merchant, shop guard, peasant, animal, etc that was non-essential in Rattay and the immediate surrounding vicinity...I also picked every lock I could find and looted corpses and stores. One of the few people remaining, Radzig, got in my way going up the stairs at the lower castle so I aimed my bow at him to scare him off..he attacked Henry. I surrendered and then he ran away.

Edit: also Hans is bugged out and wont start "The Prey" quest

    From the ashes?

    Posted: 28 Dec 2020 11:12 PM PST

Hello! I was going to buy from the ashes and while looking into it I see you could build a combat arena. My question is can I fight whenever and whoever? So for example a guy in full knight armor over and over again for custom battles, or how's this work? Thanks!

    People dying too easy?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:51 AM PST

People ever die when you knock them out? Or after you use headcracker on them? Mostly whenever I use sneak to knock them out tho. Also I know about bleeding and I use a mace mostly so it shouldn't be a bit issue, especially for the sneak part

New to the game and I absolutely love this. Some general questions...

    Posted: 28 Dec 2020 06:50 PM PST

Please avoid spoilers as I'm really enjoying the game.

1.) Is there a trainer I can spar with? I'm currently in the Limping dude quest atm and was hoping to perfect my dodging. (Do I just wait for a supposed hit like the green indicator and press the corresponding movement on the opposite side/away from the hit?) Also just to clarify on blocking, pressing Q should do the trick right? This isn't mound and blade where you follow the direction of the hit with a direction of your block? Kinda confused with how shield blocking words as a result of this lol.

2.) In the "Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Armor & RPG" video on YT, they talked about clothing and interaction, the game does explain that looking menacing can affect dialogue/convince people when choosing the right choice, but does it do anything if I'm selling loot/doing groceries/speaking to people? I haven't understood the charisma value yet. Does equipment degrade if I'm wearing it? How does it get dirty? Combat and exploration?

3.) I understand that realistically, swords aren't meant for armor... should I start planning ahead and getting something that's not bladed? Also, what do axes do in the game?

4.) How the hell do I grind? Are the sparks tied to particles in settings?

What do you think about the sequel?

    Posted: 28 Dec 2020 01:21 PM PST

Like, I know the first game contains act 1 and 2, and the sequel will have Act 3 and beyond. But how are they going to manage the skills? Are we going to play as Henry? And if so, what will happen to the skills we have acquired in the first game? I wonder how the devs will Come around that. What are your thoughts?

Just finished the game for the first time. Very disappointed with the ending. (spoilers obviously)

    Posted: 28 Dec 2020 11:12 AM PST

I got this game a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it immensely. I was especially invested in the story but things start to go downhill once you have to enter the monastery and search for Pious. The quest itself is a great concept but is ruined by the Circators who will bust your balls and throw you in jail for 2 days if they catch you in church 5 seconds after mass has ended. Not to mention the buggy detection system which means you can not even get caught by anyone but the AI Circators will still magically know you were sneaking around. I had over 15 stealth so low stats wasn't the issue. I love the concept of the monastery quest but if youre going to do an intrigue based quest like that you have to make sure that the detection system is working properly and fun to outsmart.

After that the story picks up again and is fun for a while Until you get captured by bandits in the fort and Sir Istvan Toth reveals that Radzig is your real father I originally thought that this twist was going to have some relevance to the story and provide satisfactory answers about Pa's mysterious past but the reveal is pushed underneath the table and we never get an explanation about who Martin was apart from He was a soldier and then he was a Blacksmith and he didn't like war Its like yeah, all that was pretty obvious already. Radzig promises to explain everything after the final siege but the story ends so abruptly afterwards that there is no payoff to the big reveal and it all feels pointless in the end. They could have just not had that twist in the story and very little would have changed. It feels like the writers just wanted shock value but didnt want to consider the implications of what their twist might mean for the characters and plot. It doesn't even seem like Henry cares at all and is pretty unsurprised by the news.

Finally, The fact that you don't get your sword back nor do you get to kill Markvart von Austlitz is insanely frustrating to me. Those are literally the two things I wanted to do most in this game. The writers did such a fantastic job of making you angry at everyone who wronged you and thirsty for revenge. And then they totally blue ball you and leave you on a cliff hanger. What the fuck? The writers got me so invested in the plot but then they don't even finish the story? Is there supposed to be a sequel? Its been nearly three years since the game was released and I can't find any information on a possible sequel.

Also on a side note I really enjoyed playing as Theresa in a Woman's Lot. I wish you could play as her in the open world and equip armor for her. I'd be very interested in having her as a secondary protagonist in future games.

Sorry if this seems overly negative. I really have had a blast playing this game and the only reason I'm so pissed is that I was invested the story.

Lost in Translation - Cuman disappeared bug

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:06 AM PST

I got the quest from the miller, told him I wasn't interested in his scheme and would be taking the prisoner to Rattay, and paid him in advance. I got the aids to unlock the shed for me and found the Cuman inside. I spoke to him but didn't take him to Rattay immediately as I had something else on going. When I returned later, the quest guide tells me to "(Optional) Take the prisoner." and the marker is in the shed where the Cuman WAS (I saw him there the first time I visited), but he is not in there now.

If there is any way to find him or at least clear this quest off my log help would be appreciated. Even if it's with mods or console. Thank you! I'm on PC.
