When should I focus on side quests?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 09:19 AM PST

First time playing I'm up to the nest of the viper main quest but I've noticed know I haven't done a single side quest in the main town like areas I found and I'm scared if I take too long asking for reinforcements I could fail the quest

I saw someone post a pic of how Henry is the sole reason that the Rattay area is stable ... But what if you do an evil playthrough?

I really hope they make it a little easier to walk in the sequel

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 01:47 AM PST

I'm on Ps4 and about 10hrs in and absolutely loving the game. The world is so immersive that I enjoy just taking my time and walking from place to place. While it's not super hard to do that with the analog stick, it would be nice if there could somehow be a way to be able to have the stick pushed all the way forward but still walk instead of jog.

What if when your weapons are put away, you have a single button press that toggles max walking speed.

Like, say you are pushing the stick all the way forward and the character is jogging, you can tap L1 or something and it slows thr max speed down to a walk. Press it again and it goes back to the speed of a jog. This way it allows players to use which ever method of walking they prefer.

I think that could be a pretty easy solution that would make the controls blend much more into the background, for those who want to use it.

With this game I want to be as immersed as possible. Walking and not rushing everywhere is a huge part in building that immersion. That's why walking should be made as easy as possible and not have to be a more difficult alternative to jogging.

But yeah, all that aside, this is gearing up to be one of my favorite games. I love it.

EDIT: Just thought of this. What would really be cool would be if there were three total speeds of moving with the analog stick. Depending on how hard you push, you can either normal walk, power walk, and jog.

While moving at any one of those speeds you can press L1 and lock it in. That now is the top speed. Press it again and it is unlocked.

And this applies to many other games too, not just Kingdom Come. Walking comfortably is often a gripe I have with many open world games. Its often either a jog or too slow and a pain to do. I dont fully remember how it controlled but Red Dead 2 comes to mind.

    Carry on Henry...

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 03:03 AM PST

So, I've finaaaaally finished the KCD main quest and just about all the side quests I can stomach. I'm something of a completionist but really cba with gathering 100s of bits of deer or hare meat etc...

Absolutely loved the game, despite it being clunky as hell on PS4. Even playing on the Pro model the wait times are ridiculous, texture rendering is really poor and even entering/exiting inventory screens can be painful. Watching a few videos of folks playing on PC nearly made me cry it performs so much better.

Anyway, main point of this post...

If they do eventually release a sequel, they had better make it so that you can pick up your Henry where you left off in the first game, eg. stats/perks/abilities etc. It would be sooooo painful to be as awful at everything as you are at the beginning in Skalitz all over again.

This obviously assumes that a sequel would have Henry as the protagonist, but I can't really see a world where he wouldn't be...

    Thoughts?

    How to review messages?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 02:16 AM PST

You get a ton of tutorial messages in the top right corner of your screen. Sometimes they disappear before I fully read them. How do I review them? And no Codex > Tutorials doesn't have them all...

    PS5 Performance

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 01:44 AM PST

Has anybody been fortunate enough to play it on PS5 yet? I've put over 200 hours in on PC and want to platinum it on Playstation but it runs like doodoo on the PS4 Pro. I was hoping PS5 would unlock the FPS at 30 or Lock it at 60.

    Must have mods?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 11:09 PM PST

Has been a year after the last time I've played this game (Finished it), and today I just found out that there are a lot of Mods in Nexus and it made me feel overwhelming. Don't know which one to pick and which one is old/outdated, also what is PTF ?? I see some mod with the name "PTF edition" and have no ideas, so many new things!

Henry got gifts for Theresa, but where from?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 02:32 PM PST

Played once on the Xbone, and three unsuccessful times on PC because of the Windows edition failing. The STEAM edition is night and day different. Also playing with the Hardware Accelerated GPU scheduling. Just having insane performance these days and I am pumped to play this MASTERPIECE.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 01:58 PM PST

So I'm just happy with the performance of this game these days on my medium-tier hardware. First off, if you don't know (maybe there is some work around about Direct X12 or something) the Windows store version stops working somewhere around 60 percent completion of the game, maybe its more like halfway through the game... But after the getting into and back out of the monastery mission and dealing with the guy who tells you about the fake coin and such, it just constantly crashes and wont let you play on any further. So far other than getting to that point in the game and not having an issue, the game is just smoother and better performance wise. I have my hardware running in sync and keep it clean but things seem excellent here. The game runs 100 times better. I get a full 60fps even in the busy part of Rattay now. I run an i7 9700F locked to turbo all the time and disabled any thermal or power throttling.... since it's not a K series you gotta do some odd workarounds, but that gets it to constantly run all 8 cores up to 4.5ghz or 1 to 2 cores at 4.69ghz. I also use a 2060 super with a minor overclock. +116 to the core and +1169 to the memory. Only re-pasted the CPU and added a cooler master single fan CPU cooler, no liquid cooling... Nothing runs hot. CPU stays at 40C 90 percent of the time. I've seen it maybe hit 48C in a thermal test. and GPU hits a max of 66C in some demanding games like this and metro exodus. I'm using 1440p, smaa tx2, HD textures and sounds, all settings are on very high and even have LOD distance, veg draw and those around the middle of the road. I'm just thrilled at the look and feel of this game again. Here's the fun part. I can turn EVERYTHING ON very high and use 1440p all day but in the woods and around the country side I can use ultra high on most settings and still retain 60fps constantly.. I did notice NVIDIA's "optimal" settings wanted me to have water on medium, and shaders on low, and everything else on high but oddly enough it also wanted me to use my native 4k RES and I was like it CANNOT HANDLE THAT.. BLOWN AWAY again... I was getting a pretty steady 50fps everywhere with 4k , even 60fps in the forest, maybe 45 in Rattays busiest part. I'd still rather a smooth aand constant 60fps so I went back to 1440p on my 55 inch TV, but WOW. Did they work on the Cryengine this past year or so and make big strides, enough to have made these improvements in updates/patches? . I'm just blown away at the performance I'm getting on the Steam version and the fact that I won't reach a point in the game where it just doesn't work because Windows destroys everything they put in their Library. Thank you Steam and thanks for letting me get back into this realistic, peaceful yet challenging game again!. I almost beat it on the original Xbox one but the performance was poor. I played through three more times on PC ,first one I had a 1050, 4gig but non ti variant. I just never got passed the point where you finish the monastery stuff because of the Windows edition issue. I kept going back because I love the vibe and atmosphere of the realism. The fighting is like no other game (sword fighting) and the woods and music can be so damn relaxing. Windows version is just BROKE. I'm amazed I can get such solid performance with what I have right now. Thanks to the people who made this game! There is nothing else like it.
