KCD ruined other RPGs for me.....

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 09:56 AM PDT

I've completed 4 play throughs. 2 hardcore, 2 normal. I've been good, I've been evil. I loved this game so much but there is nothing different I can do for a 5th time. From one KCD'r to another, can anyone recommend an X Box Rpg to play? Please no assassin creed or red deads....... Ty!

Finally ! Proud of this one, it was a pain in the butt to move on the map without any indicator especially at the beginning when you don't know all the roads ! But in the end i did it, in almost 50 hours (i took my time) !

    Worst Luck Ever

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 11:22 AM PDT

So I'm playing on hardcore, and I love a lot of aspects of it. But I just encountered the worst thing ever. So first off I had just finished the early mission where you hunt with Hans Capon. Then went to Neohof and completed part of it and was looking for the coal burners. I ran into an accident that had like 6 bandits and they murdered me. Guess what? I got reset all the way back to the hunt with Hans Capon because I had no opportunity to sleep and save somewhere.

Now I have been on an endless loop of doing that hunting mission. Stupid stuff keeps happening to me. But I finally cleared it and went to untie Hans Cappn after beating the Cumans, and this time around I searched a lot and found a ton of items that would help me make more groschen. Deciding that I won't be an idiot this time, instead of untying Hans Capon I went to sleep and save at the Cuman camp bed.

I have the perk that makes you wake up somewhere else after sleeping sometimes, and guess what? It kicked in. So now it saved where I leave Hans Capon tied up and wake up somewhere else, but have a Game Over since it leaves him there. So now I'm stuck in a endless loop of game overs. Guess where my last save is?

The beginning of the hunt with Hans Capon.

    Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Is there a way to add global illumination at night time (i.e. turn the moon and the milkyway into a light source)?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 04:49 AM PDT

New player here. All my post processing settings are set V.High except the shaders @ U.High. I tried U.High lighting but shadow flickering is bad at day time.

I'm loving the G.I. during day time but the nights are very dark even though the moon and the stars are clearly visible in the cloudless sky as if they're not casting any light.

Is there a mod or an ini hack that would make night time more realistic?

    Kcd Lethean water glitch

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 06:48 PM PDT

So I was unhappy with some of my perk point uses so I made and drank a lethean water potion and everything went as expected besides the fact that I now have an additional perk point in drinking, I was at level 9 when I drank the potion and after I drank it I leveled up to 10 (You are only supposed to have three perk points at level 10). My guess is that when I drank the potion it gave me the point but because I was resetting the levels it made the point double trigger.

    Torches vs Lanterns

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 12:10 PM PDT

Walking around with a torch would be ok, if that's what all the NPCs were doing, however, nearly all of the NPCs, including peasants are carrying lanterns. So why can't Henry have a lantern? and how are there no mods for this yet? We have people designing and adding new armors and weapons to the game, but no one has been able to add an equip-able version of an item that already exists, and has it's own animations, in game yet?

Ok, I know what you are going to say: Do it yourself then!

I happily would if I knew how. Anybody have any tips on how to do this? I haven't made any mods for this, myself. I used to make my own mods for Fable TLC, and I've done some Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim mods. Mostly simple stuff, like retextures, or replacing a mesh/model with another. For example, I created a mod for Fable TLC that replaced the swords from the "ghost sword" spell with Balverines, because the swords were labeled as creatures in the game files. Still have no clue what to do with KCD. Fable had very convenient tools, and TES games tend to be built to easily facilitate modding.

Anyone Else think WH ideas on "Realism and Historical Accuracy" are whack?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 07:41 PM PDT

DISCLAIMER: This is mostly intended to be funny. I expect nothing to change and am happy with my mods. I hope you Enjoy the flavorful language and references I use.
I just started playing after quitting on launch due to obvious reasons, and now that I've come back, I have a few qualms about the Dev's ideas on "realism." (Note: I have Downloaded mods to fix most of these issues, but if you have any bangers, feel free to lmk.)

Slow Motion. This is nonsensical. It should have been removed with HC mode at LEAST. It ruins the flow of combat, it even ruins the flow of perfect blocking. It stops being cool after a short while due to limited animations, and KILLS REALISM. It's not "Historically accurate" to go alpha instinct because you parried an attack. You know what IS cool? Fast Paced sword combat.

Potions. I like them, personally but WH has no right to tell me what "Is or Isn't historically accurate" if they're going to have magical potions made of nettles and cornflower that heal my brain hemorrhage, and close the gaping hole in my chest.

Masterstrikes. These should have been a mechanic that happens from Parry based 2 hit combos. Or, at the very least, "You and the enemy have to match attack zones when you or they parry." Making it at least a slightly SKILL based system, for a MASTER swordsman. Because it's a MASTER strike. Not a "Magical, I blocked at the right time, boop bop bam," strike. Enemies go nuts with this mechanic, and obviously players find it too easy, it's literally assassins creed level gameplay if you don't intentionally nerf yourself, or only soft/late perfect block.

Can't WASH MY BLOODY (Both Literally and British) SWORD? Those poor, disgusting, blood soaked grindstones. My grotesque overflowing sheath. HEAVY realism.

I ate a hefty meal of Chicken and Cheese IRL, didn't make ME pass out. (Don't REALLY care, I just find it whack/funny that certain foods obliterate your energy. Have you ever made the mistake of cooking your cabbage? Good God.)

Let me at least BUY a compass, put it in the Offhand slot. Don't just pretend they didn't exist lmao. I don't care about the Sun.

The Damn HOODS. LET ME WEAR THEM. IT'S 2020. IS IT NOT REALISTIC TO WEAR YOUR HOOD? Also, Visors should be attached to a button, not combat. C'mon. We all agree here.

That's about all I can currently think of, thank you for reading my Rant.

    Merciful run question

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 07:06 PM PDT

I killed runt with poison, so my kill count was 0. After 2 quest i killed a cuman, now my kill count is 1. i don't know how i killed him, i only killed a dog and used headcracker on a cuman lol.

I saved because i didn't notice my kill count was 1. can i still get the trophy or the only kill must be runt?

My life in Rattay (early game leveling)

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 02:00 PM PDT

So I pretty much gave up on knighthood and heroics and settled into the life of a rougish alchemist. Hal's daily routine is as follows Wake up at the inn I pay several nights for Box Milan/loot his unconscious body for groschen Head out to gather marigolds, nettles, belladonna, various other herbs Pickpocket groschen and goods from the various workers and townswomen who travel back and forth from the creek to Rattay Sell my stolen goods to Miller pescheik Got to the alchemist bench and make as many potions as I can Buy new books food stuffs, major repairs, bathhouse wench so on so forth, upgrade gear as needed Sleep/read Wake up and sell my potions to the alchemist Box Milan/loot his unconscious body Also every week I compete in the tourney and loose second match

This "life" has proven to be an absolute amazing early game leveling for an astonishing amount of skills and stats
