Combat is excruciatingly boring in Late-Game and here’s a bit of a reason as to why

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 08:26 PM PST

I, like many of you have played KCD for well over 200 hours, and as I'm just now getting to level 20 back on my main account, I have noticed that combat in general has felt a bit lacking in areas, but I'll add a list.

Combat with enemies are wonky at times.

I for some reason have a harder time finding myself getting Wombocombo'ed by peasants with piss and vinegar in their bloodstreams spamming attacks at me using spears and pitchforks rather than knights coming at me in plate armor.

(For the record, I've fought six fully clad lads on the streets minding my own, and yet somehow peasants with seemingly 999 stamina are almost as hard as these guys at times, but we'll get to as to why later.)

    • Once you get upwards to around level 16-17, a lot of the enemies are opened up to doing this thing called perfect ripostes. And not just the knights or high level bandits, but basic peasants and common folk, too. Why??

In short, I think it's the coolest but also the worst thing they could have put in this game. It breaks up combat as you know it from the combat star it teaches you, and, in my opinion, utterly disrupts everything this game has gone to teach you thus far.

"Oh, you feinted a strike that you spun your cursor around the star for three seconds and there's pretty much no way I could have predicted you were going to strike at my bottom right? That's a paddlin', son. C'mere and lemme give you this reposte outta nowhere. Try again."

There's no way to avoid this late game. It's only a matter of time before every other enemy is just as capable in bopping you into infinity, or every fight becoming a test of patience to see who will get Perfect Reposted first.

And now for arguably the worst part..

    • Every fight feels like a fight with Captain Bernard at this point. What that means is it takes away the very thing that made combat so fun in the first place.

    Combos

Combos are practically laughable in late game. If he hasn't parried your attack and punished you for it on your second or third swing, he's definitely perfect blocking you at least.

Four hit combos are a joke in late game, and even then, three hit combos are a big risk, too. I remember the fun of early game as I'm watching my girlfriend play this for the first time, and at level seven, combat looks so much more entertaining and fun than what I'm dealing with every other time.

    TL;DR

Idk if people will even read this or not, maybe a dev can come by my way and look upon this. I'm certainly not asking for a fix now, but I most definitely hope the great guys at KCD Studio get a better handle on their combat. I'm kinda tired of every guy I fight being Billy Badass in plate armor, or Jackie Chan with a polearm.

    Tourney goers beware!

If you have a bad reputation like my current Henry, the tournament can be ended part way into a fight due to said rep.. as I just found out the hard way.

Heard some of y’all are having trouble with combat... find out how one man became invincible using this one simple trick. Tourney entrants hate him!

There’s a secret ending if you get imprisoned in the tutorial.

What is up with enemies just bumrushing into me?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 11:13 PM PST

To make a poor multi-target combat environment even worse, the game makes bandits (especially in ambushes on the road) just run straight into me, screwing up the already poor targeting system. And I really mean it, they are just sprinting directly into the camera.

I can't even hit them properly because they can somehow still parry despite running directly into me, then their buddies just get free hits off because Henry for some reason can't turn around and fight.

This game has great potential but to be honest, but the combat system is really bad and it's a huge detriment to my overall enjoyment of the game.

edit: also, in a recent ambush fight, I was getting disoriented around randomly despite me having reduced the number of bandits to 2, and both were in front of me. It was as if there was an invisible third attacker hitting me from behind, which was really weird and annoying.

edit2: I know my posts may be annoying to some, but I've been playing a lot because I like this game, but these things that happen are simply so aggravating, ugh. I hope you understand :(

I hope WarHorse Studios can find improve on all these bad aspects in their next game, because the positive aspects like the atmosphere and recreation of the Bohemian countryside are simply fantastic.

    Take back your things- monastery

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 05:24 AM PST

Hi all I have a really bad luck in KCD, another bug I encountered is that when I was finishing a Needle in a Haystack quest I decided to let Pious free. During conversation with him a quest log popped out- "Take back your things". After talking to him there was a short cutscene with Henry and Pious running into bushes and saying goodbye to each other. When it ended the new quest started and "Take back your things" was marked as failed. I tried to check the chest where I left my stuff but it was empty. Any idea what should I do? Almost everything I had was in that very chest. All help appreciated!

    Are the questlines finished now?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 05:41 PM PST

!3flair played the game at release and i remember some questlines lead nowhere. for example the love interest(s) with the womans or the boys at the mill.

are those finished now? Id like to replay it, but that gave a sour taste.

    Seeking Advice for Combat

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:11 PM PST

Hi folks - I'm looking for some advice where combat is concerned, with particular emphasis on engaging multiple foes at once. Playing on PS4, if that's relevant to any advice you might give.

I've been training with Captain Bernard quite a lot lately, but I still find myself woefully under-prepared for a fight. I took on three bandits and a dog when I was around level 5 in the Sword, and scraped through. After reaching level 11 in the Sword, I was feeling quite confident that I could handle three Cuman warriors when they ambushed me in the woods, only to find myself lying face-down in the dirt shortly after. The worst part is that I actually did kill two of them without taking a hit, and the third brought me down by himself. I suspect at least part of it is residual panic from trying to deal with three enemies at the same time (I really struggle with targeting the right enemy at the right time), but I also fully suspect I'm going about things the wrong way.

I've seen a lot of guides suggest running away and using the bow from a distance, but in a previous instance of being ambushed by four Cumans, running away proved impossible, as I was completely surrounded by the time I was aware of their presence, and efforts to dash through the gaps in their defence resulted in my getting knocked around and disoriented, so I'm mostly looking for advice that might help if I was aiming to stand my ground, or had no choice but to do so.

Aside from general advice, I have some questions:

-Is the longsword more effective when two-handed than when using it with a shield? I don't feel confident enough to fight soldiers without a shield, but if the sword and board combination works best with a shortsword, I'll switch out my gear and see how that feels.
-Captain Bernard's free-training has helped immensely, but he parries and dodges too effectively for me to practice combos to a point whereby I'd actually remember them under any kind of pressure - any suggestions for this, or should I just keep a list close-by for when I need it?
-Would padded armor allow me to train in the Mace with Captain Bernard without having to sit through his whole lecture on combos to regenerate health every time I miss a block? I don't have the means to repair armor after every couple of sparring sessions at the moment, so I've been taking my armor off before every session with him.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I'm really enjoying the game so far, and I enjoy the difficulty of combat, but it is a little disheartening when you're killed by a four-person ambush on your way to a quest location, and then killed again by a three-person ambush on your way from that location on your next attempt.

    Need help

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 02:43 PM PST

I have started playing Kingdom come deliverance. And I think I have came across a bug. I can't turn the lock pick. It's not like it's super difficult. Or that I am not on the sweet spot. It's more it won't turn at all. For what ever reason. If anyone knows anything about this bug, please let me know how to fix it.
